Single permit processing 2025

GuestPoster571

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! 😊

I’m currently in the process of getting my single permit (type highly qualified worker) for Belgium.

My employer submitted the application in the 9th of last July

The work authorization was approved very quickly, just a day later (that was surprisingly FAST lol).

Since then, I’ve been waiting for the Immigration Office to process the residence part.

I know timelines can vary, but I’d love to hear from people who recently went through this:

👉 How long did it take between the work authorization approval and the Immigration Office decision (Annex 46 / Annex 47)?

👉 Have you noticed any recent trends in processing times?

Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences, and best of luck to everyone else waiting on their permits! ðŸ€

@Nabil Gouri

Hi,

Your work authorization was approved after only 1 day ? That's impossible, never heard of this.

Immigration office needs now 17 weeks (for renewal of Single Permits 14 weeks).

Good luck with the second part ðŸ˜

Eline Paul

@Marleen Kentane

He is talking about the work and economy department ( which grants the 1st approval) not immigration office ( which grants the 2nd approval). It’s fast, but it can be that fast its normal. There are people here who got it in 2-3 days! But in average is 2-3 weeks. It’s the 2nd approval that takes 14-17 weeks

Eline Paul

First time applicants - Flanders - late May/beginning June. Any updates?

teaenjoyer27

@Eline Paul

Late June. Yet to receive any decision on WP let alone RP. It's crazy, but ig its also because the company is a start-up.

itsbaber

@Eline Paul

WP approved on 29/04, still waiting for RP. It's the first application.

musmans

@Eline Paul

Only if it helps:

Applied 26 Apr

WP approved 7 May

RP approved  8 Aug

There are numerous other cases which took similar time in this period so i bet it's coming your way in this week or next.

VD_Bel

@Eline Paul

It's a renewal application in Flanders.

I got my work permit on April 22, however, haven't received the Annex 46 yet.

Eline Paul

@teaenjoyer27

Did you call the work & economy department to see what’s wrong?

Eline Paul

@musmans

So 3 months between WP and RP. Hopefully it will be the case for me as well 🤞ðŸ»

teaenjoyer27

@Eline Paul

Yes, every time I contact them, it's the same response- "we are handling your file right now, both of our departments have 120 days to decide together on the single permit".

VD_Bel

@teaenjoyer27

To be honest it is going beyond the timelines now, for me it's been 126 days already since the approval of WP.

teaenjoyer27

@VD_Bel

Isn't it that if it takes more than 120 days, you can request the single permit through one of the Annexes? It is assumed to be automatically granted.

Jojo12344321

@VD_Bel

Same here, it's been 123 days since the WP approval and still waiting for the RP.

Let me know if you hear back.

Jojo12344321

@teaenjoyer27

Not exactly if they clearly mention that the processing takes +/- 17 Weeks now. More than 16 weeks (4 months).

Jojo12344321

@teaenjoyer27

When are you supposed to start? It might have to do with what date the contract starts.

teaenjoyer27

@Jojo12344321

As far as I understand, the processing time that you mention (14-16 weeks) is always supposed to change. However, the 120-day deadline is a standard and clearly mentioned on the website. If a decision does not arrive within that timeframe, the applicant can obtain Annex 47 (or another). Have you talked to the IBZ about this? My starting date is Sept 01, but it will now change based on if/when I get the SP.

Jojo12344321

@teaenjoyer27

  Totally hear you, rn on the fladers website it says that after the WP is approved, they will take about 17 weeks to decide with IBZ. I know it says that if no answer is given within 4 months then the process is deemed granted; however this is only the case if they don't explicitly mention that the processing time is over the 16-week mark. Which is not the case now since they have stated it to be about 17 weeks.

I am in Belgium and there is no clear way of it being "automatically granted" with Annex 47. Do you know how to apply for it? Have you applied?

VD_Bel

@Jojo12344321

There are no clear instructions regarding this process. Even for Annex 47, IBZ is only required to send it to the employer and the local commune. However, I haven’t received any communication from my employer, and when we contacted the commune, they advised us to check with the employer. If we ask our employer, they don't accept any such process.

Jojo12344321

@VD_Bel

Totally agree. That's why I feel like our best shot rn is to wait and see where the waves take us xD.

Btw if you're already in Belgium or just graduated, ask your company to start on a student contract already!

You'll only be allowed to work for 20h/ week but it is still better than missing completely the first couple of weeks.

Btw when did you apply?

VD_Bel

@Jojo12344321

My employer applied on 03 April, got WP on 22 April.

Luke Blackk

Yeah I was also curious on how do we excercise that rule for annexe 46/47. i got my WP on 28.04.2025 and today marks 122 days since that date and I still have no updates on my RP. I have tried contacting them and they always tell me the different info. Is there anyone we can contact regarding this?

Dmente44

@Luke Blackk

Yes, I'm very interested too. I got my WP on 18.04 and nothing about the RP 😔

Jojo12344321

Just got my Annex 47, they just sent it to my employer HR out of the blue. She did try calling today coincidentally and they told her that it could still take weeks. But I just got lucky and they approved it. I don’t think there is a way to request Annex 47 by itself.

First time, Flanders, Highly Skilled

Application Submitted: 14/4/2025
Application admitted: 25/4/2025
WP: 25/4/2025
RP: 28/8/2025

RP received 125 days since the first WP approval.

Good luck to all and just be sure that they will reply asap with a positive decision ðŸ™ðŸ»ðŸ™ðŸ»

Jojo12344321

@Jojo12344321

It’s truly a gamble and a game of luck in getting your processes reviewed.

itsbaber

@Jojo12344321

nice to hear. Congratulations!!!

Suyog Ghadge

@Jojo12344321

Congratulations. Had your employer applied for annex 47?

Ashok Dheepan

Hi everyone,

I applied for my single permit on April 10, 2025. The work permit part was approved, but the case is still with the Immigration Office for the residence part.

It’s now been more than 4 months, and I haven’t received any update. My employer and HR have also followed up with the Immigration Office, but nothing has moved yet.

Has anyone else experienced such long delays recently? How long did your approval take? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

teaenjoyer27

@Jojo12344321

Amazing! Could you elaborate how did the conversation go b/w your employer and immigration to obtain the Annex 47?

ngatsby

Hi, has anyone applied in July 2025? Any news 🙄 ?

Puneet07

@Ashok Dheepan

First time or renewal which region?

Jojo12344321

@Suyog Ghadge

As I said, the HR didn't do anything or apply for anything. She simply just asked for an update. Immigration just issued Annex 47 themselves and sent it.

Jojo12344321

@teaenjoyer27

From what I understood, they clearly told her that it could still take weeks before it's finalized. But then after the call later on we just recieved the annex 47 out of nowhere.

welsonbelgium

Dear all, my WP was granted on April 24th, and we're still waiting for Appendix 46 RP. I've contacted the DVZ three times by email and phone, but nothing has helped to quickly process the WP. It's already been four months. Hopeless.

vinsin77

Has anyone applied for the SP (for high-skilled workers, Brussels region)? How long did it take? I saw the comments on the Flanders region, I want to know about the process time in Brussels. Thanks.

It's the holiday season, be patient! They also have other cases to deal with, NOT just YOURS!
