sathyavedamani7

Hi

Friend of mine is working as school teacher and her work visa is on grace period nowin Manama
she is on dependent visa of her husband
Few months back her husband was employed in a private firm and now he is on investor visa

My query is, Will she be able to extend the work permit or will she get any problem as her husbands got changed to investor visa

Very confusing post.

How can she have BOTH a work visa and a dependent visa at the same time?  that is not possible.

Can you clearly list what type of visa she is on right now and when does it expire?

If she is on a dependent visa, she needs to get her visa re-stamped as her husband work visa would have been cancelled for him to transfer to investor visa.Ìý When that is done, all dependent visas are also cancelled.

If she is on a work visa, she needs to apply for a dependent visa to rectify her status.Ìý Or her employer needs to extend her work visa.

Here is how you convert the visa i.e. dependent to work:

And this is how you apply for a dependent visa:

Thanks very much for the reply

The First link shows the below lines :

Special Conditions
For occupations that require specialisation (doctors, teachers, engineers, insurance, Banking Sector), the applicant must submit the approval from the concerned ministry or committee or Central Bank of Bahrain, etc...
Dependant’s ID card will not be changed and Dependant’s Residence Permit will not be changed.

My Friend's school offered her the work permit but her Dependent's residence permit is based on her husband's investor visa

My question the investor visa is valid till next year January 2019 (Her Residency Permit)
Her work permit is valid till November 2018

How is it possible to extend the work permit when her Residency permit is not valid for atleast 6 months

Awaiting for the reply ..Please help

I think you are confused as what you said makes absolutely no sense.Ìý Why is her residency and work permit validity different?  what are you referring to when you say work permit?  These are both the SAME thing i.e. the stamped sticker on her passport - when does that expire?

You CANNOT work on a dependent visa - it is NOT a work permit.Ìý If she is working for the school while being a dependent then this is illegal.Ìý  She would need to CONVERT her dependent visa to a work visa as per the link I pasted above.Ìý  Once converted, it would then need to be extended by the school which is a very easy job.Ìý Or her husband can EXTEND her dependent visa and then she goes through the conversion process to work visa.Ìý Either way is fine.

Ok she is on her husband's sponsorship and NOT the school's.

It just says work visa because that is the way the site is designed (even for my 2 year old baby it says work visa :) ) but it is in fact a dependent visa on which you are NOT allowed to work.

First of all, why did they get a 1 year visa to begin with - probably wanted to save money is my guess.Ìý As her husband could have asked for a 2 year investor visa which would have allowed him to give 2 year dependent visas.

Anyway, the options I gave above are valid i.e. either convert and extend or extend and convert.

Thanks for the reply

But why her Occupation says as Teacher and the employer is Al Noor international school
But for her kid the employer is her husbands investor company name

I am sorry i might be wrong but curious to know If it is just the site designed as work visa  how come her occupation and employer is different from her husband's investor company name

This is what happens when you give incomplete information - it has taken literally taken 6 posts to get to this stage which is a waste of both of our times.Ìý You should have provided the complete information in the first place (On what you pasted, it did NOT show any employer / sponsor name.Ìý   All it showed was that you have two dependent visa under the husband.Ìý And for pure dependent visas, the employer name will show the same as husband's employer - which is what I assumed the visas were, based on the confusing and incomplete information provided).Ìý

In the future, ask your question with full details and clearly.

Her visa is already converted i.e. she has gotten permission to work as she is part of a special profession which means that she can be easily shifted back to full family visa if she is terminated or contract finishes.Ìý  Her husband needs to renew his visa FIRST which can be easily done online through LMRA EMS system (Renewal of work permit option - can be done in less than a week).Ìý Then her dependent visa is renewed and employer can extend her work permission.Ìý What you have to understand is that the right to reside in Bahrain is linked to her dependent visa and the right to work is what is applied for through MOE.Ìý If she does not have the right to reside, she cannot extend her work permission i.e. it is useless.Ìý Unless she cancels her dependent visa and the school applies for a new visa for her - in which case she is NO longer a dependent to her husband.Ìý But there would then be extra requirements for applying / renewing kids visas.

It does not matter whether her husband is on investor or work visa.Ìý Her visa status has not changed i.e. she has been on dependent visa throughout and in between got permission to work as a teacher.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience in giving right details
You are just awesome :)
