Fires are happening all over Europe, but in Bulgaria.....

Estimated 12,230 acres burned

Sadly, this is becoming a normal occurrence. Europe is experiencing hot weather a lot earlier than it used to and for longer periods.

In Austria, we have BBQ bans, and smoking is banned in forests and open grassland. We are lucky that we have just a week of rain, but that brings another problem because the ground has been baked dry, we have had floods, the ground was like concrete.

janemulberry

So tragic, especially when idiot arsonists are involved too!

But the wildfire risk is why it's very important to keep dry vegetation well away from the walls of our houses. I see a couple of the unoccupied and unvisited renovated expat houses in our village are at risk, with dried out tall weeds very close to the foot of the walls. A grass fire can easily send sparks up into the eaves.

I probably need to get the weeds on the vacant block beside our house cut back further, but we make sure there's at least 3 metres cleared.

Mrs Homemaker

@SimCityAT

You are absolutely right as I'd heard about other EU countries suffering extreme temperatures and fires.  Greece is mentioned  also. As well has flooding in Romania.

At a glance it seems someone up there picked up our motoring itinerary and stuck pins in for flooding & fire 🔥 🙄..although if we look at it another way its a firsthand warning of areas we should be avoiding.⚠️

Mrs Homemaker

@janemulberry

Its good that you are taking the necessary precautions around your Bulgarian home🏅 we are also planning to do a rigorous cut back in the garden.  Last year we had our  friendly neighbours

assist us that .

I had a conversation with our very lovely agent this morning who being based in Bulgaria assured me that the areas which are affected by fires do not include any our properties.

So of course I'm hoping 🙏it stays that way 👈

janemulberry

Thankfully there are no fires in our region, either. It's been extremely hot and dry, but there was a decent rainfall two weeks ago which will help reduce the fire risk. I'm praying it stays that way, too, and that the existing fires can be stopped.

Helpful neighbours are a treasure. We're so blessed with ours.

SimCityAT

@janemulberry

Rain is forecast tomorrow and will bring the temperature down in the affected areas

janemulberry

That's excellent news!

Mrs Homemaker

@SimCityAT

aah thats good

wysemanjohn

just like in the USA (At least under Trump) there is not a single comment posted about what is causing the wildfires and what each of us can do to influence our government and as individuals to make significant carbon emission reductions.  Come on people don't just talk about the problem get to work or these fires will just get bigger and more common.

Mrs Homemaker

@wysemanjohn

Perhaps its not so much that folk on here dont care ..its more likely because they are clueless as to what they can actually do to prevent them.

Of course @ Jane Mulberry pointed out the obvious  measures. Indiviuals can do to help , ie Keep grass low, dont smoke in forestry.

Now  while I'm not an  expert ,- as far as governments are concerned I think its likely they could do  more . As far as daily temperatures go the information is readily available.

So then When scorching heat is predicted maybe watering vulnerable areas [ deactivating potential tinder)  BEFORE FIRES OCCUR.  could go some way toward prevention.  Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️

To think Greta Thunberg spent much of her youth globally petitioning, grown politicians as to the dangers of climate change .

At  which most of them then laughed her off the stage

Now the majority are wringing their hands as to what the best solution might be?

Clearly there needs to be 'Radical '&  Cohesive plan as to what we all should be doing about this.

What are your thoughts?

VillageLife

Where should people avoid when buying?. South Yambol region and others??

JimJ

Where should people avoid when buying?. South Yambol region and others?? - @VillageLife

Anywhere there are idiots throwing away cigarette end, broken glass, flammable rubbish, having al fresco barbies, burning rubbish, clearing fields of stubble by setting fire to them, lighting brush fires for a laugh, paying arsonists to burn down trees in order to be able to bribe someone in the municipality to regulate the land....in short, it's best to stay well away from anywhere in the Balkans! 😂

josephsaad44

we are certainly living in a crazy time where people are firing places intentionally ,it is all men's made weither through the weather modification, by activating the 5g Antennas the biological weapons, seeding the clouds with barium, aluminum, manipulating the weather through chemtrials.

and so and so.

cyberescue1

@Mrs Homemaker

I don't believe any of these fires are to do with climate change. We had temperatures like this decades ago, without a problem.

Personally, I believe they are political arson.

But I'm not going into the detailed politics of why and how on this platform.

You can pm me for details of my other social media accounts, should you want to know more - I've been watching the political arena for 15 years now.

JimJ

Note to Self: remember to stock up on baking foil - it sounds as though there's going to be a shortage soon...😎

JimJ

@cyberescue1

I'm not sure what "political arson" is, but I'm all in favour of politicians self-immolating - and happy to lend them a hand!

"Accidentally" setting fire to forests has been a typical Balkan tradition for generations - once it's gone, the land can often be brought into regulation and used for house construction, with "a little help from your friends"...😎

josephsaad44

@cyberescue1

I don't wish to speak about politicians and their actions.

I have been working with diplomats for 32 years, if you have any doubts about that topic I will be more then happy to assist you with information.

weather modification and climate engineering has been going on since 70s. if you are watching the mainstream media and believing every word they say, then you will stay in the matrix. I suggest you all guys since you are looking for an answer for the wild 🔥 do your own research! analyze, ask questions! do not rely on one source! ask yourself who are those people who control us in every part of the world? what is the WHO WEF UN who is standing behind them? what's their plan🤔what is Agenda 21-30? what is the 5g bio weapons? what is HAARP?

who is blackrock and vanguard? who is Klaus shwab? some of what I have mentioned are censored, I will be more then glad if you have time to look into it.

please guys if you are not aware to all of this, try not to argue! Best regards.

JimJ

"What is HAARP?" is an excellent question - and one answer is that it's an great way to root out conspiracy theorists and general-purpose tin-foil hat wearers with too much time on their hands and no idea that there's a REAL world out there to explore. 😎

Here's another question: Why is it that some people insist on quoting "scientific facts" that are neither scientific nor facts?

Clue: the correct answer DOESN'T include the words "sheeple", "the Matrix", "if you don't agree then you're blind/don't understand" etc - or involve "research" which is simply parroting pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo garnered from the plethora of conspiracy theory sites clamouring for the attention of the gullible and delusional.

The real world is all too often bewildering and confusing until we understand more about the mechanics of existence and the human condition; there's really no need to invent Supreme Beings, Hidden Conspiracies, or Alien Experimenters to muddy the waters...we ordinary  humans can b*gger the world up all on our own without any additional surreptitious assistance!

cyberescue1

@JimJ

And to sell the land to China, to invest in solar farms, as has happened in Australia.

cyberescue1

@josephsaad44

I'm well aware of all of what you say and know what they all stand for.

I do not watch mainstream media, because it's just propaganda in its purist form. Instead I have an extensive list of Alternative media on video platforms, some with significantly higher following and views, than any mainstream channels.

JimJ

Living in Bulgaria, one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, both overtly and covertly, should be enough for any sensible person to realise that there's no real hidden agendas here - it's mostly criminality involving straightforward bribery/under the table payments, or threats of violence. There's also the Russian influence, exemplified by the esteemed Agent Rumen, a prime candidate for a prolonged visit to the Sofia Central Prison once his presidential term of office, and concomitant immunity from prosecution, expires - always assuming that he doesn't vanish and resurface living in Russia, like the erstwhile German Foreign Minister..... 😎

janemulberry

Well, the local people in my area do say the climate has changed significantly, with hotter and dryer summers and colder winters with less snow and more frost. Crops that used to grow well can no longer be grown. And warming oceans, change in sea currents and wind patterns melting permafrost in the Arctic, all appear to be proven realities.

Whether that is human-made or a natural climatic shift as has happened multiple times in the last few thousand years, I don't know. It does seem wise to me to try to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible. It seems unlikely that fossil fuels can be burned at the accelerating rate they have been over the past two hundred years without that having some sort of effect on the planet.

Of course, political factors are at play here, but IMO, it's simply about the rich and powerful making more money. No conspiracy theories needed to explain it.

josephsaad44

@JimJ

they are all corrupt and there is no left or right it's a big distraction and a big game and we aint a part of it.

most of what I see and hear is a big lie.

People are behaving the same like members of government leaders, as well liars and corrupt.

I have to use my instincts and rely on my senses each time I meet a person anywhere on the planet.

it's hard to gain trust, people swears and pray but they have to faces.

small minorities are with high frequencies that are reliable, the rest are rubbish and fools.

Exactly, I've even noticed the change in the weather in Austria. It's getting hotter in Turkey; they broke their record the other week. 50.5°C.

A couple of days ago i posted :  just like in the USA (At least under Trump) there is not a single comment posted about what is causing the wildfires and what each of us can do to influence our government and as individuals to make significant carbon emission reductions.  Come on people don't just talk about the problem get to work or these fires will just get bigger and more common.

I just wish to say I am heartened by each of you because it shows you are concerned and that you do care.

I have read the Millennial generation is the most involved group with global warming because they have the most to lose.  My granddaughter is a millennial so i asked her what are you doing on a personal level to help slow this down.  She said pretty much nothing not because she doesn't care but because she doesn't feel there is anything she as one person can accomplish.  I think all of us have that feeling but when I get overwhelmed with the vastness of the problem I go back to a writing from long ago that I taught my high school inner city poor students and i am encouraged to think and to move.  Here it is and i hope it gives each of you the same inspiration.  Edward Everett Hale, Sr., who said, "I am only one, / But still I am one. / I cannot do everything, / But still I can do something; / And because I cannot do everything, / I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."   So my fellow travelors as in sJohn 16:33 TAKE HEART.

wysemanjohn

As a footnote my personal theory of why so very little has been done and so very late comes down to Exxon and their extensive efforts to muddy the waters because it was not in their best interest for people to slow down their use of petrol i.e. their greed helped us loose 40 plus years arguing if climate change is real when we could have been working on this.  They hired a team of scientists and media personalities to help them confuse us.  Now they admit the truth and their part in it.   Regardless here we are, and we can do what we can to mitigate the harm.

SimCityAT

@wysemanjohn

We know what the cause is; what is there to discuss? Prolonged dry spells without any rain causes the grass to dry out. It only takes an idiot to have a BBQ, leave it unattended, and a spark from it will cause a fire. Or someone flicking their cigarette away.

This happened last year in my town, someone with their cigarette not being put out, and someone's hedge went up in flames because we had not had any rain for a whole month.

Climate change is a real thing. I spoke to my wife about it today, and she has noticed the change; the seasons are becoming weird, Mild winters, hotter summers.

janemulberry

I think John's point is to go beyond sensible fire precautions and look also at the root cause of the changing weather patterns, and what we can personally or collectively do to change things. These are often very different things to what the greenwashers, the governments, and the big businesses would tell us we "should" be doing!

I don't suppose we can do much individually when countries like China and India are causing pollution. But I suppose every little helps, so if you can do your part, do it. At least you can say you have done your part.

I recycle everything possible, so I know it won't be burnt off or put in landfill sites. I actually get paid to return all my plastic bottles to the shop.

janemulberry

Wow! That's an excellent system! It's the same in Australia. Bottles and cans have a refundable deposit.

Our small actions are just a drop in the ocean, compared to the total problem, but it's worth knowing we've done what we can. And there's a Bulgarian saying about a drop drop drop becoming a well.

jeanmandredeix

Bulgaria has about 600 wildfires every year. Yes, there is a drought at the moment. Can we stop the climate changing, it’s easy, No. It’s been changing since the world began. I wonder how many who believe in ‘the science’ which doesn’t exist, that the pole shift is accelerating faster and could flip in next 50 years, if it does - and bear in mind most science is guesswork- then it is likely an extinction event. Also another point, earths magnetic shield is weakening which results in more protons reaching the atmosphere and hence causing weather issues. No matter how much they tax you, stop you enjoying life, nothing can stop it. Even if we went to Nut Zero tomorrow there would be no change. They forget to tell you that.

jeanmandredeix

@Mrs Homemaker

Reducing CO2 will not stop the climate changing. It should be preparedness for extreme weather. We could reach net zero tomorrow, all live in poverty and the climate won’t stop changing and it’s not humans doing it. Earths magnetic shield is weakening causing more protons to enter the atmosphere, there is also the accelerating pole shift. If the poles flip, which scientists do say could happen in less than a 100 years then it results usually in an extinction event. If you want to learn then there are several YouTube channels quoting scientific papers so not conspiracy theories, one is Soace Weather News.

Here's a thought / idea that might help save our properties and gardens...

It is relatively easy to construct irrigation systems for watering agriculture.  Merely pipes laid in the ground, with holes in every 20cm or so , to sprinkle water over the crops.

How about assembling a complete circuit of pipes around the perimeters of gardens and attach to the mains water, or a powerful pump, from say, a well. Then, when fire encroaches, turn on the water, to gain protection.

These irrigation pipes can also be used to soak the ground around your garden / land, at any time.

Alternatively, but much more intrusive, you could build a moat around your land.
