Is this possible?

Are you planning to live in Malta or Gozo? Gozo is quite a bit cheaper than Malta. You can get a big house here for around 650 / 700 . As for education for you daughters, I would check into private schools

Thank you all so much for the replys and help. Everyone here has been great and provided alot of information. Let me get down to the core of why we are looking at Malta as a potential new home. As I think I mentioned in my first post, I work for the US government, and currently live in Germany. My wife is German, and we love it here. But I just love being in Europe in general. The problems with staying here is that it would be extremly difficult for me as a non-fluent German speaker, and an American to get a decient job. Compound that with a very high cost of living and we are not going to have a good life over all, we would just barely get by. And, while I loved my country and served it for 20 years, I am completely sick of the direction it has taken and how we are being treated. There is no reason for me to return, and if I got out of Gov service, there are no real jobs. Then again, staying in gov service has become increasingly horrible. So, why Malta?
Weather
Small and secluded
Growing economy
English speaking
Good healthcare (heck, anything is better than what we have now)
In Europe
Cost of living
Malta, just seems like we could have a good life there. I,however, have 1-3 years to do something or we will be forced to move back. Talking about a critical time in my childrens lives? They are going to be forced to move at some point. I don't want them finishing school and trying to start a life in the US. There isn't much for them there anymore.

My advice would be "do it".

Procrastination is the thief of time, you only regret what you haven't done in life not what you have done.
