No way - you have to apply online to the Passport Office in the UK if you're living in BG and don't want to travel to the UK...the days of getting new passports from embassies are long gone.

As Jim says apply online, it's quite a simple process. You'll need to send you're old one back, I've done it twice for myself and my wife and we used DHL, you can use them from a lot of Econt offices, it's little expensive but paid it for peace of mind after a poor experience with Speedy sending internationally. They'll then send your old one and new one to you separately.

I've never used econt, speedy or DHL  and the nearest office is a bus ride away but I suppose needs must . Thank you PlodivEd

I did it online a couple of months ago. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. :-)

Here's the link:

You might want to pop out to a photographer and get a new pic done. You can do it yourself, but more tricky to make sure you meet the requirements.

I too used the DHL point in my nearest Econt. Sending passports by ordinary post is a stressful (and slow) experience.

PS Don't forget the EU 10 year rule.

If I remember correctly they'll ask you for a phone number for the recipient and maybe an email, I just gave the info number, worth noting them down if they ask.

Econt is very easy, Kath, and it's likely you will find at least one staff member will speak some English.

Never used 'em? Don't you order anything online? Most (Bulgarian) online orders are delivered by Speedy or Econt.

Also, some couriers will pickup from your address. Of course, it costs more, but it's very convenient. I think DHL will do pickup (120 lv approx. to UK) vs. office dropoff (90 lv approx.).

JimJ

But you will need a Bulgarian phone number to use the courier service..

I've had plenty of deliveries go to the Econt or Speedy offices for me to collect sent from sites that accept a UK mobile number, though some sites like emag insist on a Bg number. I finally got one, on my third attempt! Still can't register for online topups etc without a residency card number, but I can top up by voucher at the post office.

But I imagine that for a passport, it would have to go to a home address. And someone would need to speak enough Bulgarian to direct the courier to the property.
