Where to pay municipality tax?

CarlS1986

Hi all,

I am hoping to go over to BG this year and usually my agent would pay my tax on my behalf, lately he's either very busy I assume, so getting an answer to questions is a long wait.

How do I locate where I am to pay my Municipality Tax?

The property is in the province of Gabrovo, the nearest large settlement is Dryanovo, as the property is in a small hamlet, I am assuming I will need to go to Dryanovo Municipality offices to pay any taxes?

I have asked my agent, but I am waiting for him to get back to me.

Any help is appreciated.

@CarlS1986 - I didn't know for sure if your town has a municipality office, so I asked copilot ai. It said the following:

"To pay your municipality tax in Gabrovo, you would typically visit the local tax department in Gabrovo itself. The address is 4 Raycho Karolev Street, Gabrovo 5300, Bulgaria, and their working hours are from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM.

If you're in Dryanovo, you would need to check with the local municipality office there, as taxes are usually paid in the municipality where the property or vehicle is registered.

Alternatively, you can explore online payment options through the Gabrovo municipality's online portal"

Hope that helps.

BTW, you got a beautiful location, passed through both those areas on the train last month. Was in awe at the scenery 🙂

Best of luck getting it sorted mate.

Make sure you take proof of ownership of the property in question (ie the notary deed), as well as your ID, or the beggars will likely refuse to let you pay! 😁  Ask them to give you all the reference numbers and other details to enable you to pay at ePay or online.  Be prepared for whatever they give you NOT to work; for some bizarre reason that no-one can fathom, I can pay the municipal taxes for all but one of my properties online.  That means every year I have to join a long queue of other miscreants at the municipal office and waste a couple of hours until a rather surly lady asks me yet again why I don't pay it online and I remind her that the damned system refuses to recognise any of the reference numbers that she's just used unless they're entered from a computer directly connected to it.

There's a website for a Dryanovo municipality (thank you to Wikipedia!). If Dryanovo is your nearest town that is likely to be your Municipality office.  No English translation available on the website unfortunately, but there is a  contact page giving the address, which you'll be able to put in Google maps to navigate

I should add that you'll also need your company documents if you bought your house via one..and it's not unheard of for the clerks to have no idea what to do in such circumstances. Patience - and a request to talk to someone more senior - may well be required! 😁

Thanks all for the info, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I had to reinstall my computer over the weekend.

I will most likely get a translator to come with me the first time and ensure I take all documents with me like JimJ said, I have company documents and House documents, I have walked through Drynovo a couple of times when I have been over, I have seen the Municipality offices from the outside but not yet entered into the building for the simple reason as to not wanting to draw attention to myself just nosing around lol.

Thanks for the link BanskoSJ, I'll update you all when I complete my journey of paying tax lol.

S25 - Sean, Yes it is a lovely area, after a couple of years researching areas, and having a look around at other houses I decided this is definitely the place for me.

Edit - The Drynovo website is not quite what I was expecting, I can't see of any way to pay for services or taxes online. It's a little scarce on information, it's almost as if it has been made by a fan / resident of Drynovo, rather than a government department.

You should be able to pay pretty much all your bills via epay(dot)bg, once you've got the requisite reference numbers..
