Have you considered the economics? For VND4,000 the sidewalk vendor will top up your tires/tyres and if you buy a tire guy, he will even use it.

Just make sure he puts the caps back on the air filler tube.

But, if you are determined, I'll tell you where (and not at Cho Dan Sinh!). They are radily available in Cho Lon.

On Ta Uyen (use for maps), between Nguyen Chi Thanh and Hong Bang (An Duong Vuong extension) there are small roads and Hiems running off either side.

On the downtown side of Ta Uyen there are two streets: Tan Thanh and Pham Huu Tri.  Between Ta Uyen and Do Ngoc Thanh intersections (two blocks) there are many vendors.

Several sell double barrelled foot pumps coloured bright red. I saw some displayed.

For tires/tyres at wholesale prices there is a wholesaler on Do Ngoc Thanh about 120 metres from Nguyen Thi Chanh on the R/H side. I usually buy Japanese Dunlop tires as they are truly superior to most around these parts.

NOW you you need the guys to put them on your wheels - I now the place but forget the name/address. Will post (right) here by the end of the week.

BTW, they always try to sell you new tires hereabouts. If you have tubeless on your machine you can put a tube in the tire to extend it's life if it has plenty of tread left on it.

Also, why do you want to fix the puncture yourself?
For less than one dollar, the sidewalk vendors can fix it in less than 15 seconds!!! Very reliable, as well. I was skeptical to begin with, but the guy gave me a guarantee: come back if there was a problem and he would fix for free. Sure enough, it lasted.

The best way to repair a tire is from the inside.

I carry tire repair spray cans with me. They basically inject a pressurised liquid in to a tire, and when the liquid locates the hole/puncture, it is sealed.

The best way to repair a tire is to vulcanise it - something street vendors aren't equipped to do as you need a heated press.

Right, the method of pushing a special rubber piece into the puncture from the outside used by the street vendor does seem crude, but it does work, as mentioned earlier.

It only fixes (small) holes though, not (long) gashes. For that, you need the vulcanization method, or a new tire.

Hi guys, thanks so much for all inputs. Sorry I gave you the wrong problem to solve. My relative's bike was found to be just deflated but its parked at a basement car park. One solution is to push it to a vendor like you both suggested but its really quite a distance away. My solution is just to buy a pump and pump the blasted tyre up hence the question where to buy that pump. And is a foot pump good enough for this task?

i bought 150k/set, brand new in box. use foot pump.

The shop is on Quoc lo 50. near to the junction of Bui Minh Truc, Dist 8.

How I solved that was to have the tire removed from the wheel; have the rim cleaned as well as the bead area of the tire (which holds against the rim).

Then, before re-installing, take a cloth or sponge, soaked with dish washing liquid, and a LITTLE (very little) water and wipe both the tire AND the edge of the rim.

Remount the tire and inflate. (The soap becomes a guey mess and the pressure prevents the air from escaping through it.)

Occasionally a small wheeled vehicle, such as a scooter, when having a tire changed won't seat properly and the air escapes. 'Painting' the tire and the rim with just water often cures the problem.
