URGENT! NEED VISA FOR VIETNAM IMMIGRATION OFFICE IS NOT WORKING
Dear all, do you know for a legit web page where I can get urgent issuance of e-visa for Vietnam??? I applied for a regular e-visa via Imiigration Office but proceeding time is 3 working days. The thinm is that they do not work from 20th January until 26th January 2023 due to public holiday. And my flight is on 27th with arrival to Ho Chi Minh on 28th (Saturday). Are those web sites for urgent e-visas reliable? Please, I need information only if you use this services for e-visa!
Thank you
@Lucija Koren
we were in Vietnam during that holiday in 2020…we got our visas at the airport, however you’ll need to be able to communicate with officials in Vietnamese or Cantonese. My wife speaks fluently (despite being a little white girl,) and ended up having to help someone with their forms, too. Just check the airport website to find out if they’re still assigning visas there. We were at Ho Chi Minh airport.

Unfortunately you are giving advice that is no longer applicable.
There is no more visa on arrival except for people who have a pre-approved letter of invitation from an employer in Vietnam.
Everyone else must apply in advance for the 30 day eVisa.
You can't even get on the plane unless you have an approved 30-day e Visa (or some other type of Visa that requires other qualifications and advanced registration).

As OB says visa on arrival is generally not available. As for needing to "communicate with officials in Vietnamese or Cantonese" what's that all about?? I lived here for the best part of 11 years on Visa on 3 months arrival type visas arriving at Tan Son Nhat & can count the words I know in Vietnamese on one hand & never had a problem. Also the form you have to fill in either downloading on line or at the airport is written in Vietnamese & English!!

Just one observation from recent experience .....................when I checked in at BKK (Suvarnabhumi Airport) on Monday past for the flight to Tan Son Nhat, they did not ask to see my e visa. Can only suppose they think because the UK passport allows you to enter for the 15 days "visa exempt" its not a requirement to check for e visa at check in. Or the lady forgot!
@goodolboy
Thank you for that report

hahahahaha very good, pressed the wrong button on the old laptop, rectified now, dont want to seem like I was shouting!!! & still on my first cup of coffee.
Hi, I also have a flight on Monday 23/01 from Hong Kong to Hanoi. My Visa is still processing and I'm not sure it will be by then given they're on their TET holidays. If anyone could share ways to get my VISA processed in time that would be really helpful.. Thanks

Hi ddoriss88, and welcome to expat.com.
EVisas are not cleared through processing on Saturdays and Sundays, and as you noted, VN immigration offices are closed now for tet.
I do not believe that even the most influential/capable agent would be able to arrange an eVisa for you at this time. Beware online services which state they can.
Are you able to postpone your flight? Can you amend your flight allowing you to go to either Cambodia , Laos or Thailand (links) until your application is approved?
I wish I was able to give you a simple solution which would solve your problem.
When you have time please let us know how you fared. We would certainly appreciate it, and your feedback/tips/observations will help others.
Again, welcome to expat.com.
@Aidan in HCMC Hi Aidan, thanks for your reply. I applied for the VISA on Wednesday and it's still processing at the moment. I'm just wondering if being on TET holidays for them means they will not process ANY pending visas?

Unfortunately you waited too long to apply.
Even if it hadn't been for the holiday period, you wouldn't have been able to count the day of submission as one of the three days for processing.
So even if they started processing your Visa on Thursday, that would have only left one day of processing.
I hate to say it and please don't take offense but you are exactly the type of person the "Warning" sticky thread was started to help.
We wanted to let people know that you simply can't wait to the last minute and then somehow expect magic.
Even if you had asked the question on Thursday or on Wednesday when you submitted the application there was probably the chance that an agent could have gotten you your Visa for an additional fee.
But to bluntly answer your question, if they had work pending at the end of the business day on Thursday there is no way they are going to start it again until early morning on Friday the 27th.
I sincerely hope that you're able to come up with an alternative plan as suggested by other members.
@ddoriss88 Hi! You, absolutely should be able to clear the Immigration at Hanoi Airport with a "visa exemption", depending on which nationality you are.

Hi pucko1. If you hover your cursor over @ddoriss88's (generic) profile pic (or click on it), you will see that they are Hong Kongese.
Unfortunately neither Hong Kong citizens, nor Chinese citizens, qualify for visa free entry.

@goodolboy I noticed the exact same thing during my flight last week from bkk to hcm.
My Dutch passport does not qualify for the visa exception, I had my trc in my pocket, but nobody bothered checking.
But I guess in her case she'll just end up in some sort of trouble arriving without a visa at TSN airport.
Please do be careful with any agencies offering urgent or emergency services, too many scammers out there.

GOB, just a (cautionary) thought, but have you checked the date that was stamped in your passport?

yup 15th Feb 2023, booked my flight out to BKK already one way 51usd at 23,300 exchange. Soon as my friend & well trusted Agent opens after TET my 4th e visa will be applied for & hopefully issued & I can get the return flight booked. Life is good, every day's a bonus!!
@OceanBeach92107 visa on arrival is no longer available even with Immigration Approval letter.

-@Donegal Danny
That's simply incorrect.
The VOA arrival desk at SGN is currently fully functional as before.
The only difference is that there are no VOAs being issued based on visa agency sponsorship.
So what dose that mean. How would one do a VOA
-@Devin Sherman
you would have to be approved to be hired by the government, or you would have approval as an investor, or you would have to qualify for a very special Visa.
Please read this entire thread (link) for more specific information to see if you qualify
