Urgent! EP Application problem - name mismatch..

fhqdldj

Hi, I have a problem with EP application because I have different names in the required documents.
Can anyone help please?

Let me explain my situation first.
* I have dual citizenship and I use different names in passports.
(e.g., Amy for U.S passport, Jane for Korean passport)
* I already moved to Singapore a year ago with DP using Korean name. (FIN number with Jane)
* Now I got a new job and want to apply for EP
* Education certificate carries U.S name only, Amy. (<--mismatch)
My college cannot prove or issue a new certificate using my Korean name.

MOM website suggests the following....
If the candidate’s name on the passport is different from the other documents, you need to include one of the following:
1. Explanation letter and supporting documents, e.g. deed poll.
OR
2. An affidavit.

From my understanding, I just need to upload a copy of my U.S. passport and write/upload a letter explaining that I have dual citizenship and I use different names. Or should I go to the Korean embassy in Singapore and ask for any legal/official document that says Amy and Jane are the same person?

Does anyone know that MOM will accept my approach? If not, what would be my other options?

Yes, Same thing happened to me when everytime I applied my EP here in Singapore. Uploading your own justification will not help. So go to the Korean embassy in Singapore and request a Affidavit to prove it officially/leagally.

You need to provide all the relevant documents. Ex. Passport, education certificates, birth certificate, etc..

You can get this done within a day or not more than in two days.

Once you have this document you can use it everytime when you apply for a work pass in singapore. As I know affidavit does not carry a expiry date unless attesting party (embassy/foreign ministry) impose a validity period.

You will get two documents,

1. Affidavit done by legal attorney
2. A document that shows the affidavit is attested by the Embassy/Foriegn Ministry

You can submit only the affidavit to MOM or the Attested Certificate.

Thank you so much, this is really helpful.
I will go to the embassy to get the document!

Not sure if Korean embassy can give confirmation about travel document identification and educational certificates but as you are holding DP with information of your Korean passport then you may visit Korean embassy and see if they can confirm about your American documents. Or else you may have to reach out American embassy for their help.

The normal process to obtain the declaration letter that there will be a form which you need to submit your certificates and passport for their verification and they may keep copies for record. Later, on collection date they will give the declaration letter with embassy stamp and signature. You will need to submit this declaration letter to MoM.

Believe, during DP application submission you might have submitted your higher degree certificate so MoM already have the information about your certificate. Good luck
