TEFL certification to get a work visa in Malaysia

nirmin1994kabira

I don’t have a bachelors degree in early childhood. But I do have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and 5yrs of accounting work experience in Canada. If I opt for TEFL certification is it acceptable to get a teaching job in Malaysia?

If I might be so bold....what makes  you think you can teach?

That isn't designed to be nasty, more to make you think.

Are you aware of the issues ESL students face in Malaysia?

  1. Pronunciation issues that are common over there - What causes them, and how to correct them. Will native Mandarin speakers have differing pronunciation issues to native Malay speakers?
  2. Grammatical errors and what causes them - 20 over,  and so on
  3. Cultural quirks that alter your pupils' ability to  learn, or might well help them  to learn.  Active Muslim students will have at least one  advantage over non-Muslims - You need to know why
  4. Do you have any ideas about a suitable curriculum, or how to use any given set of textbooks?
  5. What makes  some textbooks great for some kids, but useless to others?
  6. ... and a lot more
