moving to Mauritius with children

janinejerling

Hi there.
Are there any families that have moved to Mauritius with children. We have four children and are curious if it is wise to move our family to Mauritius and how child friendly the country is? Also which schools would be the best for our children, who can not speak French yet?

I have known many families who moved with their children from South Africa. The transition, in some cases were perfect, while others had some slight difficulties in adapting. Overall no big issue. There are many English private schools on the island and most English-speaking expat children go there. So there's a kind-of community that builds up with the kids at school. They get their own circles and soon feel at home.

If you're from SA you should have no problems settling in Mauritius.

Just keep in mind, its a small island and once you've seen and experienced most of the highlights, things do get boring quickly.
