Spices and meds

Amostorbeck

Hi There, we will be moving to Mauritius in January so to say the least I am in the process of packing and sorting. Deciding what to take and what to leave is a difficult task. I would like to know wether I'm allowed to pack my spices and every day meds (via airfreight) or is there some kind of rule against it. Is there anything else that   I should be aware of regarding packing of certain things? Thanking you in advance !!

I remember being advised to pack any prescription medicines with me preferably in my hand luggage.  With regards to over the counter medication, I am not sure if there is anything specific, but you may want to check whether there is anything not allowed in Mauritius.

As far as spices are concerned, sealed packs/boxes should be ok but remember you can buy most things here.

I agree with the previous person.

Keep you prescription meds AND the prescription (or a copy thereof) on your person. You can get most medications in Mauritius, the same as abroad, so don't be too worried if you can't pack your paracetamol...It would be best if you take only what will be considered as a reasonable dosage with you (for example, don't bring 12 boxes of painkillers on your person).

As long as your spices are sealed you should be fine. Here we find a wide variety of spices, so unless you have a specific spice where you live that would probably not be found anywhere else, bring only that along. Save space and money!
