Antibiotics without a prescription?

Julian09

Is it possible to buy antibiotics at pharmacies without a prescription?  Also, where is it possible to get vaccinations, such as for Yellow Fever?  Thanks.

You will need a prescription for Antibiotics. AS for Yellow Fever, it can be done at various private clinics around the country. I'm sure it can also be done at the local dispensary and closest hospitals as well.

Sachin are you sure ? Yellow fever vaccinations are normaly done in Port Louis on Wednesday mornings at the Mutual Aid Centre. I don't think that it can be done anywhere else. Please correct me if I am wrong.

That's what I thought also because that's where I went for it. Mind you it's been awhile-more than 6 yrs.

May be those 'for profit" clinics on the island do offer this service because I doubt the regular hospitals will have that. Anyway I could be wrong also.

I did my yellow fever vaccination two months ago and was told that it was only done at the Mutual Aid. Sachin do keep us posted please.

The best way would be to call a pharmacy and ask them about antibiotics and call any private clinic and ask them too for the vaccination.

You can get the yellow fever vaccination at the Grand Bay Clinic any day of the week.  My fiance had hers done there as have a couple of work colleagues.  Wait time was minimal and the cost reasonable.

Note, that Grand Bay Clinic and Clinic du Nord are not the same as some people get confused between the two in the North part of the island.  Personally, I would avoid Clinic du Nord for any and all treatments or vaccinations unless it was the only option available.

Many other vaccinations besides yellow fever you can also have done at various pharmacies without having to go to private clinics or hospitals as well.  The pharmacy across from Beach House in Grand Bay is one.
