Can I stay 6 months? by Milkfed

Is it possible to stay in Thailand for 6 months and which visa should I get?

Milkfed

@Never done thatNo need to be rude. I'm just asking for advise. I've never been over seas before to live anywhere. The problem is the amount of time it takes. In Vietnam you can just do a border run and come back same day. I presume this is not ... Read More

Can I stay 6 months? by Milkfed

Is it possible to stay in Thailand for 6 months and which visa should I get?

Milkfed

@Never done that I checked the E visa portal and it doesn't allow to renew online from neighbouring countries. I guess they do this to stop people doing a visa run.  You have to physically go to the consulate in that country. This includes ... Read More

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not the advise I'm looking for. I'm asking something specific. I'm looking to relocate permanently as a retiree. Besides I believe you have to renew them in major cities which could be a hassle to get to every ... Read More

@martinoo2002 I'm not "spouting" anything.  I'm merely adding to the conversation what I have learnt from various sources. I am trying to navigate through a very confusing transition the best I can. Your aggression is really unwarranted and ... Read More

I plan to stay in Thailand for 6 months a year. What would be the best visa for me. I'm over 50. I noticed the only options are 90 days or 1 year. Is there a way to extend the 90 days to 180? I don't want the year one as it's required to have 1 ...

Even if you don't pay tax you are still going to need to file taxes each year which means you'll be doing it twice. Once at home at once in Thailand. Its a pain in the arse which is why I'm now not going to stay for more than 180 days so that I can ... Read More

@sowo apparently it's only repatriated money that's taxed and only if you're there more than 180 days per year. My solution to this is to not open a bank account and only live there for less than 180 days. Read More
