Tax Returns - How long can I expect to receive mine? by pixelsicle
This is our first official year in Puerto Rico and filed our personal tax return a few months ago. How long before we can expect our return? From what we have been told it could take up to six months, is this true?

My procrastinating co-workers just got their refunds last week, early August as per usual! You should still follow up, but its likely you will get your check in the next week or so. Read More

Purchase & register a car in Puerto Rico without a PR ? by Anolis
Hello, does anyone know from their own experience if it is possible to purchase & register a car in Puerto Rico without having to get a PR license? We will be there temporarily next year, but for nearly 6 mo. & will thus probably buy a car.

When I first moved to Puerto Rico I kept my DC license for nearly a year. In the meantime, I bought a car, rented a house started working, etc. Don't go through the hassle of the local DMV if you are certain that you will only be here a short ... Read More

seeking a coastal retirement location on the east side of the island by just limin
Wow! What a wonderful, impressive website. I dove right into reading forum threads and blogs. Thanks everyone for sharing experiences. You've opened my eyes wide to what a treasure the island of Puerto Rico is. Our story in brief ...

Just Limin' I live in eastern PR (Luquillo) and I have also lived in the Virgin Islands (as a teen) and still have some Friends and family there. Its true that many come here for conveniences (hospitals and shopping) that many locals and ... Read More

Skin so soft by tonie0750
Does anyone know where I could get some skin so soft without going to a Alvin dealer? I read somewhere that I could get it at a flea market at a booth that sells Alvin but I won't be in an area that has a flea market before next Tuesday. I am ...

They work moderately well in our experience. My wife and baby use it almost daily in the house, and when we are outside at night (like last night) for extended periods. I think the biggest downside is that it probably does not last as long as the ... Read More

If you are talking about your refund, it depends. I file ASAP in February and get my change back in March or April. I have friends who file on April 15 and usually wait until August. By the way, the government is beyond broke, so I think most ... Read More

My wife typically buys essential oil at the various health food stores here on the island. They are not hard to find. Read More

Forgot to mention the earthquakes by GreggK
I'm hearing you guys in PR are having a bit of a scare with an earthquake right about now. Keep us posted on how everybody is doing.

I felt it at work in guaynabo. Since I have been here it seems like we get one that size about once per year. Read More

Finally moving to Puerto Rico by tonie0750
Well the day has come and we are finally leaving tomorrow morning for Puerto Rico and I am so excited. I haven't been there in a few years so I expect that some changes have taken place but I adapt pretty well. The first thing obviously that we ...

Everything after 66 merges with 26 sucks until about 9:30am, but yes, when there is no traffic near the airport, I can always count on the good ole tunnel. Read More

No tan lines by Fond of Ibiza
I would like to do an informal poll of the 九色视频/Us-transplant community. I find it shocking that there are no topless/nude beaches here and I think that the Puertorican tourism economy suffers for the lack of this alternative to other places like ...

I am in Luquillo and would not change it for anything, even with a 1 hour commute to the city everyday. Anywhere you live in PR you will have two principal annoyances: neighbors noise and traffic. If you choose wisely, you might be able to avoid ... Read More

I agree. 100 minimum per night hotel (crappy rooms rate) limit the potential quantity of people that can stay here. I always thought turning some of the foreclosed buildings here into youth hostels would be an excellent idea. It would also get ... Read More
