Paraguay Gun Permit questions.

European حوإ¼½م½م

Hello, I recently moved to Paraguay but can't find much info relating this topic. All info in English seems to be different from site to site.

How does the process look like? Is it possible to be a firearm license holder on temporary residence (Cedula) like some sites state?

Thanks for all answers!

Relying only on information you find in English is not a good strategy.آ  You will need Spanish.

This article says the first step is to contact the agency, Direcciأ³n General de Material Bأ©lico (DIGEMABEL or also DIMABEL):

That agency is here:

They have an email address at the bottom of the page to contact them.

Several other articles also outline the complicated procedure and pre-requisites for the porte y tenencia of arms.

Keeping and bearing of arms in Paraguay is controlled by Law 4036 (Ley Nآ؛ 4036).آ  You may read it here in its entirety:

There are sporting clubs for hunting in Paraguay.آ  You should get in touch with them to possibly get more information about legally obtaining and carrying firearms.آ  You could do an internet search for

Please note that in October 2023 the President signed off on legislation banning all imports of firearms into the country.

In effect, you are still able to get a permit and buy firearms, however prices have increased from where they were last year.

@InPyNow does that mean that there won't be any new firearms coming?

If I understand correctly all they are doing now is selling out the stock that they have, what will happen after the stock runs out? Is there any info about that or that its already running out and you can't buy most firearms like CZ?

Thanks!

@European حوإ¼½م½م Once the stock runs out, no more sales, except for 2nd hand sales through registered gun shops. Prices have already gone up substantially. For example, Camping 44 is now selling guns in *instalments* / *payment-plans*. You are looking at over $3,500 USD for a Ruger 223/556 Gunsite Scout (2,215,000Gs per month over 12 months = 26,580,000 or in USD (at USDPYG = 7,540) = $3,525+/- . I think you can get this thing for less than $1,200USD in the USA.

Gun shops will do the application, be prepared as shooting here is a very, very, very and can I say once more extremely expensive hobby.
