Newbie Questions

Angeldust

Hey Everybody.  I've been reading all the blogs and everything else on this site the past few days and I have a few qustions that I haven't seen covered here yet.  Are there any golf courses and if so how much are the green fees?  Are there places to fish and places to buy fishing supplies.  I see all the rivers but no one has mentioned fishing.  Is there an expat bar or hangout where a single man can go and have a beer and dance and listen to oldies, ie 50's, 60's, and 70's music. And another appropriate question would be are their any single ladies with which to dance?  I am a 68 year old single male, living on SS and looking to make the move to Cuenca.  I would like to make a few friends prior to making my first visit, probably sometime in June or July.  If anyone would like to reply direct my email address is leelanetexan@yahoo.com.  Thanks for all the good advice I know is heading my way.  Regards   Paul Parmer

thanks for your reply but from the looks of the site you gave me there is no dancing in Cuenca.

LiliyaBykova

It was an answer for your question, wasn't it?

Angeldust

was a response.  not a resolution.  thanks again.

LiliyaBykova

here is resolution for you - learn salsa!
Dancing salsa you can expand selection of the "single ladies with which to dance" significally.
and bring a lot of CDs with oldies, or iPad with oldies downloads.
They tend to play latino music here, don't know why...

What I heard is the Ecuadorian people love to sing and dance and that they could care less if you Salsa or Free Style as long as you are happy and having fun, which sounds great to us.

I also noticed that no one address the topic of golf courses.  I don't know how to play, but my husband does and I would like to learn.

Hey Terry & Lynn.  thanks for the reply.  If I come down there I'll have at least one person to play golf with.  One that's not trying to sell me real estate. :>)   I can fake a salsa so I'll get along okay if I can find a partner.  Cheers..Pablo

Paul,
I am visiting Ecuador next week for my "final" decision on moving there. I have previously visited the Eucalyptus Cafe as a expat hot spot. It is great.
Anyone who has advice for me for my trip next week, please feel free.

believe nothing you read about living in ecuador, take it all with a large grain on salt.

Try googling "golf courses (city where you want to live)".

There are two very good sites with most answers from expats living in ecuador (mostly cuenca)

groups.yahoo.com/group/Cuenca_Ecuador/messages

groups.yahoo.com/group/ecuador_expats/messages

for either one of these, do a search for the word 'golf' or 'golfing'

i know that i have read messages posted on one of these sites regarding golf
