Digital Nomad Visa Migrante Web
Ìý Ìý 09/30/23 @abthree Unfortunately,Ìý I got information from Policia Federal in São Paulo, that the digital nomad residency cannot be used to process Family Re-union visa, because its a temporary residency, only permanent residencies can apply for family re-union visa.
Ìý
Ìý Ìý -@Obirije
I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you.Ìý The guidance provided to the consulates from the Foreign Ministry says that family members of holders of temporary visas are eligible to receive temporary family reunion visas for the same period, but does not address the Digital Nomad visa directly, and the final decision does rest with the Federal Police.Ìý Aside from trying to file an appeal through a lawyer, the decision that you received is probably final.
Hi, do you know where I can get the correct appendices form to apply for the digital nomad visa?
I need to upload this one: Formulário de Requerimento de Autorização de Residência, conforme Anexo I, assinado pelo interessado ou por seu representante legal
And then googled it and imagine the first one that appears is the correct one or?
[link under review]%20I%20-%20FORMUL%C3%81RIO%20RN%2001.docx
I haven't found any link directly in the Migranteweb application process. Am I missing something?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi,
I am currently applying for the digital nomad visa through MigranteWeb.
In section 2, I am asked to sign and upload the following document: "Formulário de Requerimento de Autorização de Residência, conforme Anexo I, assinado pelo interessado ou por seu representante legal".
I however, don't see a template on this specific page on MigranteWeb or elsewhere on MIgranteWeb. I have googelt the document and found this
Is it right to assume that this is the correct file or are there different versions?
Many thanks in advance.Ìý Ìý
Hi,
I have a related question. What is the value that I need to pay via GRU for the digital nomad visa? If I am on the Website: servicos.dpf.gov.br and select migration and then Codigo Receita STN the value of 168 R$ appears.
Is this the correct value to pay? And do I have to pay the rest for the digital nomad visa elsewhere? Or do I have to enter a different value there?
@Sven Mo. Hi!
Edited for Oops: I understood your message wrong so removed a tiny part.
And I don't think there is a specific document to download for these forms, or maybe I missed it. You can create your own by copying the format that is at the end here in the Anexo I of the resolution 45/2021.
@Benjamin_Mo Hello! For the first application, I remember the value being exactly like that. If you entered the codigo mentioned there, it is a simple form, so it should be correct!
There will be another payment, but it is only after your application is accepted. You pay it with a different code, just before going to the Federal Police.
May I ask another question?
On the first page of MigranteWeb I am asked to enter the "Prazo"
Dia, Mes, Ano, Data Pré-fixada, Indeterminado.
Is this asking for which date I want the digital nomad visa to be issued for example with the start date in one month?
@Sven Mo. Of course! It is the duration of your residency which you can put as in one year.
The start date, which will be decided by the police, will be around when you are ready to visit the Federal Police and it will be valid for a year. (For me it has always been from the date it was published on the DOU - Diario Oficial da Uniao)
@rocade Ah wonderful thanks a lot. I was also wondering if I for example stay 3 months on a tourist visa & then 2 months on the digital nomad visa, can I then avoid doing all the registration with the Policia Federal (PF)? As to my understanding I need to go to the PF within the first 3 months, after the issuing of the digital nomad visa. Or will this create any troubles when exiting the country?
@Sven Mo. Were you not applying inside brazil? Or maybe there is some confusion. Actually, the title of this page is also kind of wrong
You apply for a Visa, if you are abroad at a consulate. If so, you will need to register to the Federal Police (PF) after you arrive - No tourist stay here, you arrive as a digital nomad counting from the first day.
You apply for Residency within Brazil via MigranteWeb - To complete the process, you have 90 days or whatever your tourist stay allowance is. As soon as your application is accepted (Deferido), your tourist stay is over, no more counting days.
When your application is accepted, you will have to go to the PF within a few days/weeks at most, the same day they will give you a document with a QR code, which will become your ID til your ID card arrives within 1-2 months.
With this document you can travel and come back no problems, I just did. Its validity will be 3 months from your PF visit. But you will need to arrange someone else to pick your card I guess.
@rocade Got it. Many thanks. Yeah, I am already in Brazil. So that makes sense now :-)
Ìý Ìý 03/31/22 Registering with the Federal Police
The assumption always is that a visaholder will register with the Federal Police ASAP after his/her first arrival.Ìý If for some reason you haven't been able to get an appointment and need to leave the country, you should go to the PF office and explain your situation.Ìý They will probably either register you on the spot and give you the protocolo that will let you leave and return for your CRNM, or give you other guidance to maintain your status.

Hello,
Im a little bit unsure about something : you wrote that a holder of a new visa should register with the Federal Police ASAP,Ìý however (in another thread), it was stated by several posters, i think including yourself, that you need to show up there with a sworn translation of your birth certificate.Ìý So, in my case, i arrived with a retirement visa on September 24, and i won’t get my translated birth certificate before October 18 (admittedly i could have gotten it much faster, but i thought there is no hurry). Is that still considered ASAP, or should i be worried?
Also,Ìý I’ve heard multiple times that at the PF at the aeroporto in Salvador, you don’t need an appointment. Apparently you can just show up there and get your business done. Does that sound like it could be true?

Again, congratulations!
As I recall, that question specifically concerned someone who wanted to enter Brazil on an immigrant visa and exit prior to registering, with the intent to return later, which could pose problems.Ìý
In your case, there's no problem as long as you register within the period required on your visa.Ìý I don't recall whether that's 30 or 90 days for a retirement visa, but the period between September 24 and October 19 falls well within either.
As for advance appointments with the PF, every office is different.Ìý It could well be true that you can just show up, especially at an airport office.Ìý I would do it:Ìý as long as you're pleasant and respectful, the worst they'll do is tell you the process that they want you to follow and send you on your way, no harm, no foul.
Again, congratulations!

Thanks 😊
It says 90 days (on my visa), but there's no reason to wait that long. Id rather get it done as quickly as possibleÌý

That's always been my thought, too.Ìý The reason that I push so hard on ASAP is that I've so often been appalled for new expats who leave things to the last minute, encounter unexpected roadblocks, and then are shocked and offended that Brazil won't adjust to them.Ìý It doesn't.Ìý As with the Rio Negro that I'm looking out the window at as I type this, swim with the current and you'll go far and fast.Ìý Try to swim against it and you'll go nowhere -- or worse.
Hi Everyone,
I now have all the documentation ready for the MigranteWeb submission (am already in Brazil & have about 60 days left as a tourist). I am still confused what documentation I will need then at the Policia Federal and which documentation needs to be translated & notarized.
I am of German nationality, and I am hearing different things
- Criminal record (needs to be original or can be a photocopy? Needs to be translated to Portuguese and notarized?)
- Working contracting in my case with my Germany company (can be in English? Can it be just a printed version? No original exists as it always was a PDF)
- Birth certificate (is that really needed? I read different things.)
- Anything else?
Best regards and many thanks
@Sven Mo. Hi,
For the PF visit documentation, kindly check the following info: /forum/viewtopic.p … =3#5774259
Birth Certificate: Yes, as this is your first application and unless German passport has full parents names on it, you will need an original birth certificate, apostilled, translated notarized, etc at Policia Federal.
The other documents: Nope, you won't specifically need them for the PF visit. I suppose you already have digital copies, as they sound like the documents necessary for the MigranteWeb application. You will not need the original documents here, and you will not need to present them at PF.

One the posts states that after registering with the PF, I will get an ID. Is that true? This means I will be able to open a bank account,Ìý right?
Hi everyone, so I'm on the final page and made all the documents and filled all fields but I'm stuck.. I'm on the last page 5 Finalizar Solicitacao on the migrante. mj.gov.br site and there is no way to continue, the vutton Enviar Solicitacao is greyed out! How is this possible? Did this happen to anyone? I tried on 4 different browsers including chrome and firefox.It just says "Termo de Compromisso e de Responsabilidade" below which it show nothing at allThen Salvar (which saves the process and doens't do anything else) and Enviar Solicitacao which cannot be clicked
@Traveler 67
Hi there, I remember having some problems with the page as well but I cannot recall what it was exactly and how I solved it.
Have you tried saving (Salvar) on all previous pages one by one, not only on the final page, before you try to submit?
And while trying different browsers, some of the information you had filled in might have been reset, so I recommend checking each section carefully.
@rocade Hi thanks for the reply! It would be great if you can remember because I'm really stuck
I treid Salvar again on all pages but that didn't work.
The only one that is empty is "Representante Legal" and "Procuração, quando o solicitante se fizer representar por procurador." because I am doing it by myself without a lawyer.
@Traveler 67
Look in the "Termo de Compromisso e de Responsabilidade" section, to see if you have to check a box to acknowledge you have read and accepted these terms. Then you should be able to submit it...
That's what I thought that there must be a check box but it seems like it's missing. I tried clicking wildly to see if it's maybe invisible or scrolling around but nothing helps ... see screenshot here:
@Traveler 67
Have you disabled your pop-up blockers? They are usually builtin for all browsers these days. Because there seems to be something missing on that page to me? A tick to confirm or something like @Peter Itamaraca suggested. Maybe someone else who have completed their application more recently can give a better opinion.
You can try pop-up settings or disable any adblockers and the like.
(Now that you mentioned, I think the problem I had was more about the "Procuração" I guess, it was giving me a yellow warning but I was able to skip it)
I dove into my archives from my past applications and here is a Screenshot I made. There seems to be something missing on your side indeed.
If you cannot find a solution, you can try contacting the MigranteWeb email for technical errors with your full screenshots:
erro de sistema: migranteweb@mj.gov.br
- Enviar os prints das telas sem corte.
@rocade Thanks! I just tried that, to disable pop ups and blockers etc.. didn't help unfortunately
I tried emailing that support email, but no idea how long they will take to reply, if at all
I made a screenshot after clicking on Salvar it actually seems it signs the terms and conditions with that notification, but still doesn't let me use the final button

I'm having the exact same issue. Also just emailed migranteweb support.
@sovelong wow.. sad to hear it is also happening to you but also glad that it is not happening just to me.. maybe if we spam the migrante email enough they will respond.. so far nothing. It's crazy to have such an error in the final step, I tried re-doing the application many times but the result is always the same and can't proceed in the final step
@Traveler 67
Fyi: When I contacted that address for another issue I faced on Migranteweb, more than a year ago, I received an answer in four calendar days. Might be different now.
Okay, so, I got it to work. It appears to be a form validation error - there's supposed to be a confirmation checkbox that pops up on the final page. I opened up the dev tools and the enviar solicitação button is disabled - I manually enabled it, clicked it, but as you might guess there's still a validation error. But after that I went back and saved my information again, the checkbox shows up on the final page, and I was able to submit it.
Ìý Ìý How did you enable the button in the dev tools?
Ìý Ìý
Ìý Ìý -@Traveler 67
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You can hover over the element (button) then right click and you should see an inspect option in the menu. It should open the dev tools right at where the button is then you can remove the disabled attribute/ add an enabled attribute. Submitting the form may still give you a different error because it needs to be validated server side. I had to play experiment a bit when I was doing these things but eventually the form sent.
However, I did just get an email back from them and they said it was an error on their end and it should be fixed now.
@sovelong Hey all good! I managed to figure out in the end but thanks a lot for the help.
It's strange they sent you an email about it, they haven't sent me anything. Anyway my visa has status "EM TRÂMITE" for about 3 weeks now. Any progress on yours?
Anyone knows how long it usually takes to process? I heard about a month. My current tourist visa will expire in 2 weeks so I hope they update it soon.
@Traveler 67
My application took 7 weeks before they began to review my application and the status changed from EM TRANSMITE.
@sfcastro Wow that's long! Any idea if I need to extend my tourist visa while waiting or I don't have to because they are processing my visa? Did not expect them to take this long and collecting all documents took a while

Officially they say they are supposed to respond to your application in 30 days if no delays, but that has never been the case in practice. My last renewal also took around 8 weeks.
With all I read here, I think we are still unclear if an "application in process"Ìý protects people from overstaying or not. It would be great if someone who had a similar issue shared their experience.
What I would do is, I'd just visit Policia Federal tourist extension section (no appointment necessary), show them my pending application and tell them I probably won't get a response in time because of the delays.
I would ask if I should apply for a tourist extension or not. Possible responses would be:
- No, you cannot, because apparently you are not a tourist anymore if you are applying for residency. (Then, you just have to wait and see)
- No, you don't need to, because as you have a pending application and you won't have any problems. (Good news)
- They will extend it.
By the way I definitely wouldn't say something like "it took too long for me to prepare" - that would be my fault and they wouldn't care. Just ask what is necessary.
Either way, good luck!

With a different process (naturalization)Ìý I was told that I was protected by "application in process" and no extension was required.Ìý ÌýI would be hesitant to assume that this is always the case, however.
I think that your suggestion to enquire whether an extension is necessary is a good one.Ìý The only way I would change it would be to leave it open-ended:Ìý Ìý"is there an extension that I should request? "Ìý Specifying a type, like "tourist" could send the discussion in an undesirable direction.
