Finding apartments off of Airbnb as a foreigner

seriouscatsoserious

Hey guys was just looking for some tips to expedite/smooth the process of finding accomodations as a foreigner outside Airbnb. It's challenging to find anything reasonably priced, that isn't a tiny studio where you sleep next to your fridge.

I have heard of the sites like QuintoAndar, but also some of the other ones that try to position themselves as an Airbnb alternative like Blueground. QuintoAndar certainly comes in the cheapest per month, but, my understanding is that it will be difficult for me to rent there since I'm a foreigner.

Also, my understanding is that you sign a lease for 16-30 months, but in practice you can break the lease without penalty at 12. Anybody have experience with this?

I'm seeking a decent apartment, doesn't have to be really centrally located, ideally safer area, either fully or at least partially furnished, ie light fixtures, toilet, fridge, shelving, etc. It will be for next year starting in January. Any tips?

Brazil is a big, big country - you would need to narrow it down, at least to an area...
