Visa for US citizens

NTXP1836

I am travelling to Brasil next month and I arrive on January 9th the day before the Visa goes into effect. I have already applied for the Visa, but know some people are having trouble with it taking time. My question is, if I arrive on the 9th will they let me in? And if I'm staying 2 weeks will they let me stay since I'm getting in before the requirement? This is contingent on not getting the visa in time, but I don't want to get down there and get sent back!

However, according to the e-visa takes effect on 10 January 2024 (see ).

So if you are entering the country on the 9th, you should receive the visa for a duration of 90 days.

Unless you are uncertain that you will make it into Brazil on the 9th, you should be covered.

Your only problem is if you encounter any delays or flight cancelations that cause you to arrive after midnight on the night of 9th January - then you will probably be refused admission without the evisa...

Having a delay in the flight might be a problem. Write your question to the Brazilian embassy. They have a portal in English and would usually answer in 48 hours. I've used it 5 times. Make a print of the answer and carry with you on your trip.
