Hi!

I am wondering what are the reasons expats want to live in South America? What are their motivations?
Is it for job opportunities? Adventure? Nature? Language? wild landscape (ie. Patagonia)聽 etc....?
My personal reasons are: it's a mix of everything.

Why not?

Lower cost of living. Safer. Better food. Have you tasted the beef in Argentina, Brazil and Uurguay?

Relax more and work less.

I second that.聽 Better food, nicer life.

I would also add that I was someone always shunned / viewed skeptically by the upper classes in America.聽 Immediately upon moving down here, I am rubbing shoulders with the upper crust of society.聽 It may sound like weird, but I prefer to be myself and attain elite status down here than be an average joe in the States.

Also, I believe that this region presents significant career opportunities for me and most others.聽 Since the fall of the Soviet Union and rise of globalization, South America is one of the key regions projected for rapid economic growth.聽 Peru GDP grew at 10% in 2008!聽 All these countries need help catching up with the old-rich countries and I am going to be the one to help and get rich while doing it.
