where can we go in south america

Hi.

We are two French Canadian without home anymore learning along the way and looking for a new place to travel. We are taking a break right now after 5 month and 7000km onthe road on our bicycles in North America.

Mid-November, we will resume travelling. Our hearth say South or Central America. This time, we will go without our bikes. We would like to be there for at least 4 month if money last long enough. We would like to get some help or lead since we don't know where to look for.

What we are looking for:

-We are open to travelling but we would like staying put for weeks at a time in the same place for sightseeing, walking and maybe do short trek
-Ideally in small town or village with groceries, cheap accomodation and ideally internet from time to time
-Safe, fun with beautiful landscape (not too far from water)
-As cheap as possible
-We would prefer renting an appartment or taking care of a house but we are open to hosteling or maybe staying with someone else
-We are open to work 2-3 days/week
