Tax in Redmond.

vicky_10

Hi, I will be at Microsoft Research, Redmond, WA for three months this summer. I want to know that how much I have to pay tax for my internship salary. For example If I get 5000 USD per month as salary how much should I expect to pay towards taxes?

Best bet would be either ask  Microsoft HR or google Washington State state income tax percentage....If a state has it's own tax it is a different amount than other states.

Again HR would know better as then you can find out if you get federal taxes taken out along with social security....

Remember you will have both US government tax as well as Washington state tax.

Your HR person should be able to tell you exactly how much will be withheld.

When did that change? I used to pay it when I lived in Washington so no I am not clueless

There has never been a state income tax in Washington State. You should get a refund

You are a foreign citizen, so the rules may be different.  The Microsoft HR department will be able to answer your questions.

I lived in Seattle from 1984 to 2012 and there was no income tax, this is very easy to google.

realized I lived in Washington, but was still technically an Oregon resident so I got taxed in Oregon....

There is no state income tax in Washington and there are no easy answers to your question. There's a tax treaty US and India...depends on whether you file an Non resident tax return etc etc You need to go to a CPA
