Visa application advice

Lynsyloo

Hi there, I currently reside in the UK with my partner and two small children.  For some time we have wanted to make the move to the USA but we haven't been in a position to make that move. We are now in a position to consolidate and look at options.

We have a business in the UK but unfortunately I don't think that it would be viable in the USA.  We have been advised that eb5 maybe an option but to me there are too many risks associated with it for the figures we are talking about.

We have been told we could enter on an L visa whilst we explore the business options but obviously if that doesn't amount to anything we have an issue.

Buying a business is an option but I am again worried about that, given we haven't lived in the country before we could be sold anything!

So....I guess what I am asking you is

A) how have you done this move?
B) what have you learnt?
C) is there a better visa path to secure a green card?
D) does buying property in USA first make the process easier?

Any advice would be really helpful.  The whole process is so overwhelming that we don't know where to start!

Hi Lynsyloo,

Our story is different so I’m not sure it’s going to help you. But just sharing our experience can may give you some ideas.

We used a completely other way to land in the USA. My husband and I, we got both a job and a work visa. I got the E1 and my husband, the E2 essential employee. Here is how we did:

Hope it helps
