I think your best bet is to go through a mexican friend with contacts in SMA that happen to be selling an old vehicle. I spent too much time and money trying other avenues with no success.

thanks Debbie.. now I am trying to get organized to drive my own (older) car down there..
sounds like the bureaucracy is not fond of older cars though...hmmm

Hi "lizdragon", was reading your posts and replies on importing your old vehicule. So to help you, here are the Mexican government information on the subject sorry but it's in Spanish.

You can GOOGLE for searching numerous links on the subject "importacion vehiculos mexico"

Basically, it's as an administrative process if a Canadian would like to become an American citizen and import is old vehicule.
