Going to San Miguel De Allende and looking for an accountant

Daniworld

Hi!! We are headed next week to SM to check out some property. We have talked to friends that own some property in Baja who suggested we get an accountant to help with the process if we decide to buy the property. Does anyone know of good accountants around the SM area? We’ll be meeting some notaries and would like to meet some that are outside the circle of the woman selling the property. Any leads on notarios would be greatly appreciated as well:)

Thank you!!

I have bought, so far, 3 properties in Mexico, and I have sold 2, and never used an accountant. That sounds like money lost, to me. I know many ex pats, also, and none used accountants. Did your friends in Baja say WHY to get an accountant? Only the notary can close a sale in Mexico. I don't see how an accountant can "help." If you go through a RE agency, they will have in-house counsel if you need it, the sales agreement, etc. If you don't go through a RE agency, you will need an attorney. I have bought and sold both ways.  And of course, the notary is mandatory. But what purpose is an accountant ? We are also in the SMA area.

Not sure why an accountant. I have various specialists that could help you though. I am in SMA (not SM, LOL) and perhaps you can find me. I am sure there are policies on this site against me posting my contact info. I am NOT either of those persons, by the way. Good luck.

What you need is a good Realtor, an accountant is is no use at all when looking at real estate. And a good Realtor will steer you to the best Notario in town, there are some you want to stay clear of. Find a good Realtor from a reputable name-brand franchise, like ***
