Job Offer from Riyadh
I am 37 years old, working in Qatar and I get a good salary, I am married, and I have a son. Thanks God
I am comfortable at work. And I do freelance on the side to make additional income.
I got a job offer in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) with for 30k monthly which is higher 25% and with a better career path.
Should I take the risk and travel?
Im just afraid that anything can happen I lose everything and I have a lot of responsibilities.
As for the expenses, I think it will be the same in both cases
The two companies are international and the same level.
so confused any help would be appreciated.
Cost of living is higher in Qatar vs. Saudi (assuming you don't live in a compound in Saudi).  However, I can't comment on Qatar side of things but there is a huge push on Saudisation here. This means that expats get contracts & Iqama of one year at a time. Then, there is a huge issue related to profession based Saudisation e.g. if you are in finance, you have to register in SOCPA, qualify and be approved otherwise you don't get your Iqama renewed. Lastly, the banking system here is pretty strict so if you have freelancing income coming from abroad into your bank accounts, be ready to face issues.
The issue is not money brother, the issue is we need to break our comfort zone in order to go ahead in our life, Saudi is best place to live & work.
Working with one employer for long time and than moving to another is very hard because you are already settled with them and you are afraid to move thinking you might not able to adjust in that place etc, but trust me in order to move ahead we have to take risk as long you are confident on your skills nothing is impossible & since you are expect in Qatar i don't think you need to worry about living in Riyadh as well because in both places you are expat right ?
Please feel free to contact in case you need any additional information or support from our side. always happy to help. Thank you!
Note: Please note we are just sharing our views, you are the one who will be deciding. so kindly think and act accordingly.
@XTang I will be working construction consultant company in creative department.
i'm already happy here in Qatar but things the offer and position in better so its really very hard to decide.
specially as I can see people keep saying dont come even with more money
@K_khalid you have very good point whixh i understand that.
but so many people saying just even the difference between salaries not that much and also life in Ksa specifically i have wife and kid not the best for them
@Mo-Mostafa As mentioned earlier you are the one who will be deciding. Many peoples are living here with families I am also one of them raised here so i don't think there are any issues with it.
according to my views Saudi Arabia is the best place in gulf to live with family, earn money and save money. Think, decide and everything will be fine.

You need to check if your position is or may come under localization which should be your main concern as any day new ruels can be passed that certain professions are being localized.
You can certainly save a lot in KSA assuming that you rent a 3BHK flat in Riyad for 30-35k which should be significantly lower than what you currently pay in Qatar.
Also factor in dependent fees and additional VAT in your expenses.
Hope this helps!
@Ali_N Thank you for your input. is there is anyway to know about the list which is for saudi only or saouda ?

Honestly, I would listen to those people. Saudi is not easy. Â
And forget looking at it from the perspective of where you are working. It is ONLY the profession that matters e.g. if it is marketing specialist, that is subject to 30% Saudization. On top, for some professions, you have to do skill based exams.
@Mo-Mostafa
hello
first of all what is job profession offer you got
what is your qualification and your all degree and diploma should be attested by SAUDI EMBASSY IN YOUR COUNTRY AND YOUR HRD MINISTRY AS WELL AS MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS.
NEXT YOU HAVE TO BE CARE IN YOUR DECISION,BECAUSE THERE ALOT HAPPENING DAILY, MOST OF JOBS IN HIGHER CATEGORIES ARE RESERVE FOR SAUDI,SOME ARE 30%, SOME ARE 50% SOME ARE 75%
IF YOU ARE ENGINEER OR ACCOUNT PROFESSION THEN YOU NEED TO REGISTER RESPECTIVE INSTITUTION.
IF YOU TELL YOUR PROFESSION AND COMAPNY IT WILL BE EASY TO GUIDE YOU.

It depends on whether graphic designing comes under the broader umbrella of marketing, if so there is a % of localization in it. And it depends on your nationality, professions, legalization of education docs with the Embassy and so on.
In your contract also please check if you have family status, yearly tickets and so on

You will have to google it or someone esle in the thread should be able to help on this as I do not have any confirmed list with me.
@saudi2020 well its international company and thats the range of salary for my skills and position.
The problem is that the list is ever changing and not published as a single source of truth (i.e. websites put bits and pieces).  So you cannot get a definitive answer.
Having said that, I think you need to look at the spirit behind most of the answers and draw your conclusions i.e. Saudi is not easy and is not a preferred destination unless or until the money is such a significant jump that you would be willing to put up with a lot of things, including, the lack of job security due to Government initiatives. So it is up to you to decide what "significant" means.
