Hi and welcome. Trust you are well. I should be on leave, but had the misfortune of having had to change work just before Ramadan. My new Iqama is taking ages to come through, so stuck here for a while! Oh well.....
Oh grt.

Please will make a count.
Im the Count-1.
Dear Ebains@ Jeddah please add your counts below this msg.

i will be in Jeddah in August God willing. People don't seem happy.... I will not be the same
Alliecat wrote:@Kat, I definitely know what you're talking about.Â
Even when you do meet other people, they seem extremely protective of their network and if you're a single woman, many married women don't want to be friends because they are afraid you want to steal their hubbies
I wish a female tries to steal me
As an expat female who has lived in Jeddah I support Khanjeddah's comment that Jeddah is the Dubai of the South. I have travelled all over Saudi and Jeddah is more relaxed than anywhere else. If any female expats are thinking of renewing their contracts, head to Jeddah. You will never regret it.

Are you worth stealing?
Try internations.org/jeddah
Become a member. They arrange expats activities. you may find interesting people in their get togeathers.
Good luck.

I am working here since years. Yes, it can be boring but not always. Since I am running my own company I enjoy quite some freedom. Of course as a man I can easily move around wherever I like. And there are plenty of locations where unmarried couples can join.
If anyone needs to know more let me know.
Qassim- the armpit of KSA. It's hard meeting people outside of the compound I live in; however, we have formed various athletic teams. We play most Thursdays after 9:00pm. Since all Westerns in Al Qassim must live in my compound per the local Prince, there are very few Non-Saudis to meet outside of my compound.
The women at my compound are mostly English teachers. Many of the males are teachers too. I am not a teacher so many of them see me as an outsider they can talk too.

He was obviously looking for women--maybe msg'ed a bunch (didn't msg. me but I'm not obviously female). That will get you banned.

I agree.. nothing wrong with women going out alone in KSA..i lived in Ha'il a small conservative city in the north and now Riyadh and I go out alone and have no problems..also I went to Jeddah alone on holiday in my first month in KSA last year lol kind of crazy I know but didn't want to go crazy and stay in a horrible compound for the holidays! So yeah I travelled all over KSA alone and with female friends and its fine...as i'm mixed British/Tunisian...I look Arab- Syrian/Egyptian I guess so I wear nikab always when i'm alone to avoid problems, also I feel safer with nikab..Suppose thats due to having to wear the nikab in Ha'il in my last city I lived in lol!
