Registration with Saudi Council of Engineers

OrangePeel71

Hi,
I am a registered Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Engineering Technology & the Engineering Council in the United Kingdom but I do not have a Bachelor Degree. I have a Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
Is it possible to apply for membership as an Engineer with the Saudi Council of Engineers from outside of Saudi Arabia?

Cheers.

Before we respond, you need to provide first information to the below QUESTIONS:

1- What are degree, diploma courses you took in college.
2- How many years you completed your degree, diploma course.
3- How many solid years of experience do you have in your degree, diploma specialization.
4- Does your Certificates i.e. degree, diploma, TOR already authenticated and attested in your home country, yes or no?

Hi Red Trumpet,

1. I have a Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering from The University of Teesside.
2. My HNC was completed over a 2 year period.
3. I have over 20 years experience working as an Electrical Engineer in the Industrial, Pharmaceutical and Oil & Gas sectors. I have been a Principal Electrical Engineer for Aker Solutions for the last 8 years working on the Johan Sverdrup Project.
4. My HNC certificate has not been attested in my home country (UK).

Your experience is quite impressive. However, you only completed 2 years HNC in Electrical Engineering which is par below the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) reglamentary four (4) years minimum Bachelor of Scientific Engineering Degree (any discipline i.e. electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, electronics & communications, etc).

Now, let's go back to your original question: YES, you can register in SCE outside KSA, but the number of years of your experience does not guarantee your acceptance as full member to the SCE council. A must 4 years (minimum) completed BsC degree in college does.

Prior to my HNC in Electrical Engineering I completed an ONC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering over a 2 year period.
I have been registered as a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council for over 7 years. This is an internationally accepted standard for engineering competence. Would this not count towards getting registration with the SCE?
