Teaching english in Saudi

Hi, are there any South African women out there who are teaching english in Saudi? I am considering doing this for a year. Please share your experiences and any advise would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Hello Airship..

There are many South African teachers who teach various subjects which they are specialized in.. Pls. find the link's of two well known schools which i know where there are South African teachers.. These schools are based in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia (Dammam / Al Khobar / Jubail )..

She is probably talking about teaching ESL to college/university students and/or adults in language schools.

Yes, there are many, but I don't know if you will find any here on this message board.

If you want to teach ESL anywhere in the world, the one website you MUST know and use is

Register on that site, and then go to the International Job Forums, go to the Saudi board, and then post there.听 And you can search there as well, and find tons of info on universities and institutes.

Hello,
While in Qassim , I met numerous South African women who taught English(ESOL), Most were happy enough but some hated the location. Dave's ESL has a list of articles on the subject.

Well yeah, Qassim is the most conservative part of SA, and so it must be terrible for most single western women.听 Even for men, there isn't much to do.听 Sure, the weather and scenery is nice, and if you are planning on doing some kind of studying for a year or two, then it is good, because it is quiet with no distractions, and as I said, there isn't anything at to do, especially for women.
