I got selected as assistant pharmacist by the MOH of Oman. They offered me R.O. 275 basic pay+ R.O. 34 technical allowance + RO 20 electric and water bill allowance + RO 80 meal allowance + accommodation and transportation. Would this be enough for me to save at least RO 200? How much would I be spending just to your estimation. I just don't know where in Oman specifically would I be working.
Since we are given the electric and water bill allowance, would this be enough to cover the charges?
I also wanted to know the cost of food and other necessities like toiletries. And if ever our accommodation doesn't have internet, how would it cost for us to have an unlimited access.

If you are single, the yes, you should be able to save the sum you have quoted. If you are posted in the interiors and certainly yes !

For a single BHK accommodation, R.O. 20/- would be just about the amount required for paying the electricity and water bills every month. R.O. 80/- for food every month too would suffice, if you are single again. For your personal upkeep (toiletries) you would need about R.O. 50/- per month, unless you are the splurging kind ! Unlimited internet download packages are available for about R.O. 25/- per month.

Suggest, you go through the numerous and very informative posts in the forum to get a clear understanding of the cost of living in Muscat. In the interiors, the costs would be considerably lesser.

Thank you for those information you gave me. I just don't understand what do you mean by "interiors". Enlighten me please. By the way, yes, I'm single. So you think I can save RO 200? And are there Filipinos working part time there?

Muscat is the capital city of the Sultanate of Oman and by far the most developed and populous part of the country. Filipinos and other nationality expatriates are aplenty here.

The other smaller cities and governorate capitals are Nizwa, Sohar, Sur and Salalah, which are much smaller than Muscat, but certainly bigger and relatively a little better developed than the 'Interiors', which is is the generic term used for any of the many smaller towns spread all across Oman having little or no social life.
