Hi jack2613,

Firstly, what is 'azad visa' ? Never heard of it before !

Secondly, jobs for expatriates are becoming dearer day-by-day here in Oman. This is because of the rigorous Omanisation processes being followed meticulously by the government. The objective is to enable more locals to be gainfully employed and therefore to reduce the high unemployment levels among the locals.

Lastly, for someone with 3, 1/2 years of experience getting a job itself would be a challenge. Even if you do manage to get one, do not expect to make anything more than a consolidated (that means all inclusive) sum of R.O. 1,000/- or thereabouts.

Good luck !

Sumitran thanks for the reply.By the way azad visa is the one which can be obtained by money from employer in which u can freely work any where and in any field u want by the consent of employer who gave u visa.

Hi jack2613,

Now I get it !

What youÂ’re referring to is commonly known as the 'Free Visa' (which is what you've also mentioned, but since I donÂ’t know that language that youÂ’ve mentioned it in, I didnÂ’t get it).

Just so that you know (in case you don't as yet), working in Oman on a free visa is illegal and is against the Labour Laws of the Sultanate.

Huge numbers of labourers pay stupid sums of money to the 'agents' in their respective countries and a few (un)lucky ones manage to land in Oman only to find out that their life is anything but what they had imagined, or hoped for.

Please be aware that regular raids are conducted by the police, along with the department of immigration and civil defence authorities resulting in planeloads of people (classified as ‘illegal immigrants’) getting jailed and then deported for various misdemeanours such as continuing to stay on with an expired visa; doing a job other than what is mentioned in the resident card; working elsewhere other than in the sponsor’s premises; holding expired resident cards; besides many other legal transgressions.

You cannot take up a ‘white collar’ job on a ‘free visa’. Once you get a job, then your company would become your official sponsor. Companies also cannot and will not appoint anybody who is not under their sponsorship. Only illiterate and semi-literate ‘Blue Collar’ workers risk it on ill advise and out of ignorance.

What you're thinking of doing is an offence. Trust you understand the gravity of the situation.

Please go through this link for some important information about the various types of Visas to enter into the Sultanate of Oman :

Best of Luck !

There could be one possibility. Instead of a free visa, you can obtain a visit visa (Which is for a limited period) and then come to Oman if you're searching or if you're in negotiation with an employer. Otherwise working on AZAAD visa is definitely illegal.

1000 RO plus a single accommodation is what you can expect, if you are very good in your field.
