Kuwait has been referencing a similar act for the longest time; i think they put the peak for skilled labor here @ 12 years. however, i do believe it is wishful thinking.

a few excerpts:
Currently, expatriates at 2,340,000 make up 69 per cent of the population while Kuwaitis, with 1,102,000, are only 31 per cent, according to the 2010 census.

"The government will suggest imposing a cap of six years on unskilled labourers, eight years on semi-skilled employees, ten years on semi-skilled employees who are with their families and 12 years on skilled employees. Foreigners with rare expertise will be given an open stay," a source told Annahar daily.

The government is keen on moving ahead with the residency caps after the World Bank ranked Kuwait as having the fourth highest rate of foreigners compared with its native population, the source that the paper did not identify said.

so its the expats fault that the native population is not growing.

they will start throwing people out soon i feel.its too bad, they dont know who is helping their country.it all the expats work.they stay above and enjoy and make some of the lowest class people suffer and making it worse day by day.

if i am asked to leave i will have to find another forum.

now the census makes sense, right?

they figure out who's been here for how long, since when, earning how much, living where etc.

trust me bro, when it happens, you will not be "asked" to leave, u'll be ordered to.

on a lighter note, they lifted the ban on bringing in Iraqi's, Irani's, Syrians, Pakistanis and Afghan's yesterday. So the labourer who wishes to bring in his wife from home, who was told she was not allowed, can now rejoice.

add to that the current racial spat that happened @ Kuwait Airways..

That happens a alot in Kuwait Airways.if i could influence every expat in Kuwait i would ask them to leave the country and see how it remains stable, the economy, transportation, and how clean will it be.

if they start ordering us out, there will be a loss if millions of KD revenue received from us for renewing our residency.
the share values in stock exchange will fall,Kuwaitis will unable to get tenants for renting out their flats.they will eventually suffer.and yeah,y are they investing so much in buildings when many of then will be asked to leave.

yet they have northern and western side of Kuwait empty.their own kuwaitis dont stay in the country reducing their population, and thats too our fault.

Personally I don't think so that this will reduce the 69% to 45% of expat population! it will increase the replacement of labour every after few years with fresh and unskilled ones hence...
it will  also increase the following

1. Visa Trafficing will increase to max
2. unskilled labours (as skilled labours will be deported)
3. local business will find problem to hire and run companies successfully.
4. Low pay jobs might stays vacant as Kuwaiti Nationals will definitely try for management level
5. Labour cost will go sky high
6. Foriegn companies might not invest here for long term due to this law.

during 2010 human rights watch ranked kuwait at the highest in visa trafficing and as modern slavery

the serious need is to fix the sponser ship system- instead caping the expats...

rest is up to the Govt....

the country will be in turmoil.the business who are surviving today will fall.companies earning slightly above the average will find it difficult to exist.as i already said share market will fall which will affect their own people.hard to find a trusted experienced employee
