Hi Again,

Can anyone tell me if 500 KD/month would suffice for accomodations for a family?  It's really hard to tell by searching properties online.  So I would appreciate any responses from people already there.

Thank you again - and sorry for the barrage of questions!

How many kids do you have?
We are in a 3 bedroom ap. in Mangaf., decent size for 380KD incl. furniture and utilities.
You can get it cheaper in Mahboula or Fintas, but the area is (in my opinion) worse than Mangaf.
It's easier for shopping groceries around here too.

Thanks again!  We have 4 kids, so a 3 bedroom (as long as the rooms are fairly large) or a 4 bedroom would be ideal.  Thanks for the neighborhood tip - I will check out Mangaf, it would be ideal to live within walking distance of as many amenities as possible!

Nicole - do you have children?  How are you finding life in Kuwait?  If you have any school tips (and some free time), would be interested in hearing them!

Thanks again everyone!

Re the bigger rooms, maybe Best check for some Villa floors in Mangaf. The Villas are usually spacier than the apartm. and the prices are still not too bad.

I had a site before that was pretty good for rentals, but I lost the link :(

No children here, so I can't say much about living with kids or schools.

But Life is good, if you can live with the idea that this is NOT the place you are used to.
Once you get past that barrier and accept quirky differences, issues, time delays, ... just enjoy that you can be here, with your family and husband and not live separated.
You can do a lot of things here, even though many complain it's sooooo boring here. It ain't ;)
But then again, I have no kids, so keeping them happy might be a bigger challenge.

If you need any help when you get here, let me know.

OK, just checked in my emails, here's the link to the rental web site:

If your husband is already over here and wants to have a look at the apartm. I mentioned we live in, drop me a message.
Not sure about the size though...

Best,
Nicole

Just Landed Kuwait and Íæż½ã½ãriates.com are two good websites to use while searching for accommodation.

Hi expatmommy,

You may view this article "Find the best location to live in Kuwait" and have a look at our Kuwait classifieds > accommodation section and you can post an advert there as well, this might help you in your search.

Wish you good luck

Hello All,

If we rent an apartment, kindly advice how the average payment for gas, electricity and water per month?

Cheerz,
Dolph

legacy

electricity and water are usually included in the rent or are paid by the owner of the building, so you should worry about that.

Gas.. we dont have gas :P

lol, no no, for cooking purposes, you would have to buy a gas cylinder and replace it when it goes empty. to get the initial one, you pay 8KD (refundable when u return it i think, ive never done so so i wouldnt know), and ud need the gizmo that goes on top which is 1.5KD, and a hose to connect to the oven, so lets say 10KD initially.

before you had to drive all the way to gas stations (always found near co-ops) to exchange it, but now i hear that some buildinngs will offer to exchange it for u (and some bakalas even [small shops]). at the gas station it costs 750fils to replace it, i think the other people (Who are closer) would charge 1.250 or 1KD.

As legacy told,Electricity and water is mostly included in rent and even if it is not,it can come to a maximum of 10 KD/mnth.but you have to pay an advance for the connection.and regarding cooking gas,its easily available with nearby shops. They will deliver at your door step on a small commission.
