Naturalisation and citizenship in Kuwait

Bhavna

Hello everyone,

What are the requirements for acquiring citizenship in Kuwait? For example, length of residence, language requirements, employment etc..

What formalities are involved in the process?

What is the policy on dual-citizenship in Kuwait? Do you have to give up your former nationality?

What are the advantages and benefits of acquiring Kuwaiti citizenship, in your opinion?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

You can never become Kuwaiti citizen.

Kuwaiti citizenship is by birth to a kuwaiti parents only.

Even if an expat child born in kuwait, he/She will be a citizen of the home country only.

Kuwait (Along with other Gulf countries) Have the best system on the planet.  One can never become naturalised. You are welcome to live here for as long as you like. As long as you obey the laws and you are gainfully employed. This system should be adopted by every other country on the globe. This willy nilly handing out of British, US, Canadian, Australian etc etc citizenship to all and sundry should be stopped immediately. Western counties should learn from Kuwait's example. Those are my thoughts.

Bhavna, a good idea would be to do a google search.
Normally, to get Kuwaiti citizenship, you need a Kuwaiti father.
Naturalization doesn't really work. I know people who were born in Kuwait, lived here for more than 30 years and still don't have citizenship.
Also, Kuwait does not recognize dual nationality.

I hope this anwers your question, but I think it's best to actually use google before asking here.

Hi ,

First of all kuwait DO NOT grant citizenship or long residence as other country's regardless how long you stay or even if you born in the country . One out of 10 million may get it and will have to be very special circumstances with a major (Wasta) connections.  Now saying that if you get it you will get major benefits as in additions in salary and free land from the government plus you can have your own business without a Kuwaiti partner or cosigner.

I know of a well known doctor who got it after 25 years because he was very helpful attending to Kuwaitis  ( emeers  and sheikh's) during the Iraqi occupation In 1990 .

Don't have your hopes high ..

I actually laughed seeing this post. But you never know. If you can convince a kuwaiti to marry you, bingo!
