Íæż½ã½ã Project Engineer Salary in Iraq
Good morning all,
Please I need your opinion on the topic .I am in the process of negotiating a Project Engineer Position salary with a local Oil and Gas service company iin the Middle East that has a project in they want me to handle in Iraq.
I have over 20 years experience and I am from African Origin. I am asking for USD 6K. Is this reasonable ?
Sincerely by my calculations and the other opportunities that are open to me ,the least I can accept is USD 5.9K. Please I need your opinion on this
Is these figure Okay and reasonable ?
Is it too small , should I ask for something higher?
I love the opportunity because it is something I would love to do till retirement. But please also let me know if what I am asking for is too high ? If it is then I may just forget about the opportunity.
Maybe connect with somebody that is working for the company on LinkedIn. They have an interest in you NOT asking too low a salary or dayrate.

Hi, The IOC in KRG in Northern Iraq are going through a very tough time now (Since March last year they export pipeline through Turkey to Mediterranean was shut down). That is why 6k is most prbably not possible. In the Oil fields in the southern part of Iraq the situation is better but salary is generally lower. Your cost of living in Iraq is very low so you can save almost the entire salary. So if you don't mind the political and security situation in Iraq you can accept the job offer for 4K.
Good luck

I have hard about this problem with the pipeline, which seems to be a recurring event as it happened years ago as well. I believe that a salary has to fit into the payment structure of the company. DNO is probably paying different salaries or day rates than the KRG. This is why I recommended connecting with somebody working for the employer.

Hi, hope you are doing well, according to your experience and the position you will be held, the salary within the range if its not lower than evarage.
Im not aware much about the exact salaries for your similar positions but i can give an indications for local national
Electric Technician ( non bachelor degree) will have $1800- $2250 per month in an oil & gas company contractor.
Translator (bachelor - diploma degree) $2500-$4000/ month
non local (expats) payment always higher than locals for mid - senior level position.
So in my opinion what you asked is within low to medium salary ranger
Good luck

Hello
I am looking forward to moving to Basra soon concerning the project I discussed earlier on the platform.
How safe is working in Basra for one with an African Origin or Nationality.
What is the current security situation in Basra ?
Would appreciate your honest responses.
Thanks
