Hi everyone,

Hope to receive experience from new friends in this forum. Please share with me the good methods to learn Swedish or how to apply for a job in Sweden.
Look forward to hearing from you guys.

Hello Bonnie,

I would suggest that you read this article, Finding work in Sweden in which you will find the relevant information and advice on getting a job. Please do also check the useful links.

You may want to go through the other articles in the Work in Sweden section if you have a specific city in mind where you wish to work.

As for your need to become fluent in Swedish, I would advise you to try your luck and drop a free advert in the Sweden classifieds > Language classes to receive offers.

Good luck :)

If you are from a profession that is not related to technology, my suggestion would be to focus on learning language first. Once you are in Sweden, get a personummer or the social security number. Enroll in SFI, takes a few months to completely (being optimistic and you have been trying Duolingo). Duolingo is quite decent app. Recently I have observed observed Google translate with voice translation is quite good to do some speaking practice too.

From abroad its not easy to find a job that is from a non technical profession. Anyhow, your chances to find work are dependent on where you would be located too. Talk to your husband about your plans and look on this website
There are few more websites too like metrojobb but I don't know what background you have so hard to say much.

Hello,

My profession is in CSR management. I studied tourism and Sociology in University.  But I have 5 years experience in CSR and worked for international groups in my country. I also want to find the same roles in Sweden. Yes, you're right, I and my husband must choose a big city like Gothenburg or Stockholm to settle down.

Thank you for your advice. I need to try my best to study Swedish. It's a ticket to entry this society and find a good job.

Hello Onah Le,

Even though they normally don't want to admit it many companies are little bit skeptical about educational certificates from developing countries so you probably need to do this

And if you have worked for worldwide recognized companies, employers certificates from them could be much helpful to make your profile better. And as you already have mentioned make sure that you master the language. All the best!

Thank you so much for your sharing. Yes my main language at work place is English but I also speak Mandarin as a third foreign language. And I have been in duolingo app for months to learn Swedish. I hope thing gets better. I know my major required master languages since I must use oratory to hold speeches in trainings.

Well, seems like I need to learn Swedish and speak like a Swedish native speaker to ensure a bright future. I’m just curious is there any chances for an immigrant to find a good job in Sweden ?

I don't know exactly how to put this to gether but I'll try.

Look this region of the world is really a something else. Class distinction is pretty insignificant for instance words like sir, Mr, madam, honorable etc. don't exist here, if you happen to meet state minister of Sweden who is the head of the government you call him by his first name Stefan and if you happen to call him sir or Mr Löfven then he would realize right away that you are not living in the country or have just arrived.

So is the income gap between jobs and "good" jobs for instance policeman 33400, school teacher 32900, truck driver 28700, barber 25100, cleaner 23100 and an intern doctor's starting salary is 32100 of course doctors start to earn more later but it's for instance same for the truck driver he/she also will have the potential to start own haulage company later and earn more and barber or cleaner could also do the same.

So answer to your question is it's an individuall choice. You can start your finding for a "good" job as soon as you learn and master the language or you can settle down with an any job and live almost the same standard of living. If someone is comlplaning that person has his/her own problems, the system of the country is made for it's all inhabitants weather it is an immigrant or not, so it's all up to each and his own.

It is correct that you'll need the language first to really get swedish, a job and lot of other things. I give you some useful links here.
One from SFI is

When you are getting better then listen a lot to swedish. I usually try to listen to news to get the pronounciation in order when I am learning a new language. In Sweden you've got news channels like , , , I also put some links on
Study hard. You'll really gonna need the language. Welcome to Sweden.

Well thank you so much for these precious links. I was very worried what if I cannot get a job soon and being unemployed in such a country, it would make me panic. That's why I'm here to ask for advice from you guys. Actually every morning, my fiance practices Swedish with me like en lilla flicka haha. It's fun to learn something new.

Wow, Now I think I can figure out how the life in Sweden look like. There is no average salary range for jobs. It's depend on our experience and major. Thank you so much for teaching me how to act like a local Swedish ^^
