New members of the Spain forum, introduce yourselves here - 2021
Hi! I believe taxis can be very expensive in rural areas! But someone told me about BlaBlaCar, bit like Uber? I also understand from your other posts that you have pets? So, if they take a pet (?!?!) it could be great for getting to the vet etc if you don't drive, which I don't. Much cheaper, I'm told! Very limited bus services in many rural areas and I believe you can't take a dog on with you. Cath xx

Hello all,
I'm planning to move to Alicante next year (date currently undecided) to start a new adventure in my life.
I speak fluent Spanish having lived in Madrid many years ago. I have also taught English in Spain for over 5 years and in Ireland to Spanish students there.
I would really appreciate any advice on rental accommodation, jobs, health insurance, cost of living and, basically, everything about Alicante City!
A big ask, I know, but would love to hear about your experiences in starting a new life there.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Paula Hagan

Thank you, we appreciate joining this expat in Spain forum. To introduce ourselves...My husband and I are retired professional American expats currently living in the South of France as French residents. We are seriously considering moving to Spain with a NLV. We know it would require health insurance, Spanish driver's license. The plan is to utilize a Spanish immigration attorney to smooth line the NLV process. We love Spain and are looking at areas east of Malaga and south of Valencia. Due to the inheritance laws we plan to rent. Since we shipped our furniture and belongings, we would ship them again to the area we plan to live. Any input/feedback is welcomed !
Hi,
Myself and my boyfriend are looking to move to the Canary Islands. I am nearly 20 he is 21.
I would like to work in the beauty/spa sector and he would work any Job like waiter bar tender etc.
I have no clue how to go about looking for a job or organising a place to move to and was hoping for some insight
Hi,
I'm so interested in Spanish culture, Dance, Music, Foods, and all about Spain including living and working in there. For that, I was working on it by starting to learn the language. When I was learning the language of royalty ( I'd call it like that ), Spain started to getting in to my life quite faster than the beginning.
I was born in 1986, and now I'm a person with a working experience of more than 1 decade in several sectors in SL like Production lines, Warehousing, Shipping, Supply Chains. and also in Tourism industry. I'd like to move to Spain to spend rest of my life in there by living / working in that beautiful land and get attached with the Spanish culture.
Thanks.
Hi Friends,
I am planning to move to Santander, Spain as a part of my work with one company here and am from India. I will be moving with my kid and wife may be in November/December. Looking for some new friends here. Also, will be searching for housing once I reach there. Let me know if there is any good place to look into in Santander Area
Hello all and Buenas Tardes from California!
I had been looking to move to Spain a couple/few years ago, and then got distracted with the goings on here.
I have since met The Love of MY Life, and she feels the same, and of course it's much more different than when I was going to do this alone.
I know I can make it work before getting there, and when I get there, and then smooth things over, as needed but not with my new partner and I need her to be comfortabl with this completely, or bottom line, it's not going to happen.
We of course have a number of things to work out here, and to prepare to move, and I have it well understood that patience is highly required and of course lots of attention to details, which we are both good at, so no concerns there.
Biggest topic, of concern for us, and more so Her in the sense of she never considered moving out of the U.S. before, so she has no idea about finance considerations in moving to, and living in Spain, and of cours Taxes.....
I will be reviewing the site, the best I can to see what i can see, so I am NOT asking anyone to start repeating what has been repeated I am sure numerous times, but if there are some links/pointers to such things, I would greatly appreciate them messaged to me, or replied here for others.
I am looking forward to be active here to see if WE can make this happen!
Until next time!
Joe

Hi Joe, Have you looked into what kind of visa you would need?
If you have a French drivers licence, it may be possible to just exchange it for a Spanish one, the NLV will require health insurance plus a certain amount of funds in your bank account, your lawyer will be able to tell you the exact amount. While I grew up in California, I had a British passport and moved to Ibiza 18 years ago, and had residencia pre brexit which made things easy. I'll be moving to the mainland in the next couple of months. Do you know the area you are interested in moving to?
Whilst an EU licence can be exchanged, a philippines DL can also be exchanged in some EU countries.Â
It can be in spain providing it was issued before you first arrived in Spain

Hi Everyone!
I live in Italy and thinking to move in South of Spain, if possible on next March.
I'd like to know people living there and come from any Country, Spain included, of course.
I have a so-called good job in Italy, but I need another environment, one that fits me like a tailored suit.
I'd like to receive a few of advices and (why not?) to know vis-Ã -vis good people.
I look forward to helpful suggestions.
I also evaluate proposals for work collaboration in the IT field.
Have a nice day!
Hi, David.
The Balearic Islands climate should be similar to that of Sardinia and the coast of central / central-southern Italy. This means the rotation of the seasons is felt more than in the South of Spain. It shouldn't be, therefore, bad at all.
For the job, I'd love to get to know you better.
Good evening!
Hi Carlos.
I'm searching (not necessarily) for synergy in South Spain both for work and housing.
Let me know, please, if you are planning a trip around on March.
Have a nice day!
Hi Cath.
I'm looking good people for a confrontation around the work and housing in South Spain.
I'm thinking to planning a trip around March.
Let me know, please, if you are interested in a possible sinergy.
Have a nice day!

Dear Ms Streelman,
In this case you will need a non-profit residence authorization ("permiso de residencia no lucrativa")
Non-profit residence is an authorization that allows non-EU foreigners to stay in Spain for a period of more than 90 days without carrying out work or professional activities by demonstrating that they have sufficient financial means for themselves and, if applicable, the members of his family ...

Hi. I’m new to Íæż½ã½ã so I don’t know the etiquette. I am hoping to move to Andalusia Spain area in the next year or two. I would like to know what it costs to rent or buy a house there. I have looked on realty sites but I would like to verify their accuracy. If this is not an appropriate question for this site, I’m sorry. Future Euro Íæż½ã½ã
Hello Euroexpat1959,
Welcome to Íæż½ã½ã
This is typically the sort of questions expats tend to ask on the forum. Nonetheless, I would request that you start a new thread on the Andalusia forum instead. The New members' thread is for introductions only.
Our members will try their best to answer your questions with the knowledge they possess.Â
Best of luck!

Good morning,
I've been in Spain for 6 months on a residence visa. I'm interested in moving to the city of Valencia and hoping to find an apartment for at least 6-12 months and possibly longer. I would like to know what the requirements are for renting. I currently do not have a Spanish bank account; my business transactions are still managed in the USA, including banking. However I do hold a NIE. I'm here on a non-lucrative visa, which I plan to renew in 2022. I speak very little Spanish.
Any insights on the bets way to find an apartment, including reputable companies, and the requirements for setting up billing accounts etc. is greatly appreciated.
Good day to all from Spain
I am thinking of moving in Spain. Also to work and have a future there.
Maybe some of you can help me with some advice on how can I begin there.
I know is not easy but not impossible eather.
Thanks
Elena
Hello AnnMiller & Elena,
Welcome to both of you.
@ AnnMiller: Would you please introduce yourself to the community so that our members may get to know you and your plans in Spain?
@ Elena: Since you're a newbie, I would suggest that you take the time to go through the Living in Spain guide. It has all the basic information that a future expat might need in preparation for his/her big move.
Best of luck,
