Building repairs AFTER sale of apartment

Jinnybev

We just completed the sale of our apartment in Spain and the lawyer has come back saying that repairs to the building were agreed by the AGM 6 days before the sale went through so we have to pay! all the checks were done by the lawyer and our community taxes were all paid. anyone know if this is legal? thanks

@Jinnybev

I doubt strongly that it is legal.

Did you have a contract you signed when you initially bought the property and what did the meeting notes say? How long were you under contract with the buyer and were they informed about all of this?

Would it be fair to the buyer to pay for something that was agreed upon before they bought and was not disclosed to them?   I'm not a lawyer, but my guess is that if you owned it when the repairs were agreed upon, you are most likely responsible for the cost.    The law is probably clear on this so it might be worth getting a legal opinion.

Yep, I would certainly ask for a 2nd opinion though a lawyer.
