Temporary Stay Visa

EarthTariq

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well.
Almost every forum speaks about the d7 visa and the process of apply during your 4 months visa for a temporary residence permit. However, there are not many experiences posted about the temporary less than 1 year visa.  I have read all the vfs, and pt websites but does anyone have any experience of it? Or how straightforward is it?

It says it is a temporary residence visa for less than a year and can be renewed. Here is the link

Thanks

Hi,

Maybe this will help you:

Schengen Zone:

Short Stay Visas (Schengen) / Required Documentation

Portugal Schengen Visa Application Requirements

Portugal only / National visa:

National Visas / Temporary Stay Visas

Temporary stay visas allow entry and stay in Portugal for less than a year. Temporary stay visas are valid during the entire stay and allow for multiple entries.

Residency visas allow two entries and is valid for a period of 4 months. During that time, the holder of a residency visa is required to request a residency permit with the Immigration and Border Services (SEF).

_____

Application forms:

Everyone who needs a Schengen short stay visa needs to fill in an application form.

WARNING: Due to the entry restrictions still in force, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, this system currently only processes national visa applications.

You can find the form in several different languages here:

You should make a Schengen Visa application at the Portuguese embassy or consulate in your home country no more than six months and no later than 15 days before your trip to Portugal. Find information on Portuguese embassies and consulates worldwide here:

Thanks Johnny. Got this information from the consulate: If you're applying for a temporary stay as an Independent professional, you need to be working for a Portuguese company. So I was asked to apply for a D7 instead

Despite the fact.  Negative  news it is still valuable information.

Thanks for the info. I’ve also found it tough to find definitive information on the Temp. Stay Visa (and what type of work is permitted).

When doing your research, did you find out is passive income (in this case UK rental property) is an acceptable form of income for the Temp Stay Visa?

Thanks

EarthTariq

Yes, seems like you have to be working for a Portuguese company. I doubt passive is accepted for a temporary stay based on this page

Thanks EarthTariq.

Yeh, I think you're right.

Seems general encouragement to apply for the D7 Visa instead.

I'd be interested to hear how you progress (if you decided to pursue that route)?

The NIF and Portuguese Bank Account part sound easy ( these guys seems great, and are very responsive - )

However, a bit unsure on how "Proof of Accommodation" works, for the initial consular application, (which allows the initial 4 month visa, in order to travel to Portugal to attend SEF interview, for full D7 approval).

Have a few agency calls set up. Will let you know what I find.

EarthTariq

I decided to pursue the D7 and was approved in 1 month. I did it all on my own without an agency, but this Facebook group will help a lot, Search "americans & friendsPT" on FB.

Congratulations!

I'll check out the FB group.

All the best

Be exceptionally careful of Facebook groups. They have a nasty habit of being full of scams. Of course not all, but way too many.

Why waste your money with an Agency when you can do it all yourself?
