Remote workers - what is the set up you use ?

milkshakesbore0b

Hi All,

In Portugal I understand that a salary/income can’t be received if not from a legal entity existing in Portugal. Therefore I wonder how digital nomad working for companies not incorporated in Portugal receive their monthly income ?

1- Do you use the employment of record option ? It seems this option brings more taxes for the employer.

2-  Or do you generally become a contractor working for what they call an umbrella company ?

3- or maybe do you create your own company registered in Portugal ?

i am looking to possibly relocate to Portugal while still working remotely for my company. However they will not want to pay any additional money compared to what they are already paying (the existing employer’s taxes are currently very low).

Would you accept to share your experience and let me know what is the set up you used ?

many thanks !

There's some support here, I chose this link because it's quite detailed.

You can be an employed worker (trabalhador por conta de outrem) or an independent worker (trabalhador independente: criando uma empresa que presta serviços ou sendo empresario em nome individual, passando recibos verdes):

i wonder if most of the remote workers are independent workers or have their company based in Portugal.
