Identity number.

LNicholas1992

Me my wife and son moved to Norway from the United Kingdom on May 3rd, we had an appointment booked at the police station a few days later which we attended and registered our move to Norway and my intention to find a job. I have been in touch with multiple company’s looking for work and am hopeful of securing a job in the near future. My question is, does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a national identity number or a temporary d-number as a job seeking EEA national. As we are at the moment, until I receive a job offer and apply for an tax reduction card and identity number we cannot buy/insure a car or anything for that matter.

Hi, Yes you should be able to get a temporary number from the tax office, so you need to go with every paper you own including a copy of the document from the police station and your mortgage / rent agreement etc. You then apply for a temporary number so that you are logged in the system. They may well tell you the you need a job first but you don't for a temporary number! After you get a job you can apply for a permanent no - but be warned as an EU national you only have six months from registering with the police to find a job otherwise you need a visa to stay. Good luck
