Hello, I am a 60 year old who is being pulled towards a major life change for multiple reasons. I am drawn to Northern Ireland. I work as a psychotherapist in the US and I specialize working with women who have experienced domestic violence. I would love to continue my work in Northern Ireland as it is meaningful and I have found that there is a Family Justice Center in Derry. I have a dog and want a new start, far away from US politics and a quieter, gentler life style. I don't quite know where to start!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
If you intend to work as a psychotherapist in Northern Ireland (or anywhere in the UK), you will need to have your qualifications assessed by the Health and Social Care Professions Council (HSCPC), they have a website where you can check out the how's and where's; this will take you straight to it and their home page includes links on how to contact them.
Once you have cleared that hurdle, you will need to find a job and the appropriate visa to enable you as a US citizen to work in the UK; this will take you to the UK Government website where you can begin that process.
One last place that may be worth a look is the LinkedIn website; try reaching out to your peers already working in the UK, they will know where there are jobs.
As for Londonderry; I must admit that it would not have been my first choice, but when I was there, things were very different than they are today. Xenophobia is currently in the headlines in several towns in Northern Ireland, perhaps check out the local social media pages on Facebook etc. You should be aware that Northern Ireland has a history of sectarian violence, it would be worthwhile doing your homework.
I hope this helps.
