Check if a vehicle is financed

Guest7845

Hey guys -

Greeting from Amsterdam. I have been living in the Netherlands for 3 years and have decided to buy a car.

I have been looking for this particular piece of information online but haven't managed so trying my luck here - how do I know if a 2nd hand car I am about to buy is financed i.e. does the current owner has an active financing contract for the car or is it his?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance,
Pedro

Why do you want to know that information? After buying the car you will have to to the RDW to put the "kentekenbewijs" on your name. If there was a financing plan on the car it's still for the former owner to pay it off, it stays on his/her name

For more information: (Dutch only)

Thank you, Ramses.
I just want to make sure that when I go on to register it in my name there are no onuses (payment is being asked before registration which I also understand i.e. imagine we register it in my name and then I have no money to pay for it).

I will contact RDW in advance and ask for that.
