You do not apply for a Maltese ID, you apply for a residence card which can take several weeks.

Dear GozoMo, why it seems to me that you always reply in negative way?  :/  If a foreigner asks for information about ID, for sure it means RESIDENCE card and not the Maltese ID. I think you should reply to people pleasingly and not discouragedly. Sorry in advance if you have mind it.  ;)

Dear Tayyab Ali, from your discussion what I get is that, you have already got a job in Malta and may have applied for a RESIDENCE card. If I am not wrong. So, you should wait patiently and no need to worry. Normally it takes from 4 to 6 weeks once you submit all the necessary documents. But you can expect more time as well. However after 6 weeks if you still unable to get the security pin letter from identity Malta by post. Which you should get in advance in order to collect your card, Then you can go there in person and should inquire about. The Identity Malta staff is quite helpful and cooperative. So, just chill.  :top:

I do not reply in a negative way, the person concerned mentioned Maltese ID not residence card which
I corrected him on as they are two different cards.
I also do not need to be told by you how I answer a post.

GozoMo does not always reply in a negative way but of course if someone has posted something that is incorrect, as in this case referring to a Maltese ID, the answer correcting the error is helpful not negative.
Also there are foreigners who have acquired Maltese ID, usually by marriage, so it would be wrong to automatically assume in this case that the enquirey was about eResidence.
Maltese ID and eResidence card are totally different so if asking for advice you need to state the correct information.
