redmilk, to answer your question, YES, I most certainly ticked the correct box on Form ID - 1A.  Some of my dependent family members did not elect to have e-ID and their notification that the residence card was ready came with only ONE Pin (Pin A).  Those of us who opted into the e-ID had TWO pins (PIN A and PIN B).  And YES, I submitted two certified photos, one for the residence card and one for the e-ID.

There seems to be some misunderstanding here. Yes, I am waiting for the login details to be able to e-ID. I did receive a letter with 2 PIN numbers after collecting my ID. Still, to get the e-ID number, you'll need to go to the same office on the 2nd floor and apply for it.

Folks, I hate to be hashing and rehashing this thing, but its better for those after us to have the procedure clear in their heads. 

Otherwise, like myself, you will find yourself having to go back to Valletta twice, when had you known, you could have done both things the same morning.

I honestly thought that because I had filled out Form ID - 1A, submitted photos, etc., that e-ID registration would have been automatic.

It is only Antonio's postings on this thread that has made it clear that filling out Form ID - 1A didn't do anything.  That you have to actually go to Valletta and physically do something to get enrolled.

Before this thread, I din't know that.  I'd still be here waiting for some notification to come in saying my e-ID was good to go.

That's correct, they got nothing to do with the e-ID process. I also thought it would be sent automatically, but I was wrong, as mostly of people.
In my opinion, the PINs they sent after issuing the ID card will work as your electronic signature. Basically, if you need to sign something online within the gov website, they will probably ask you for one of those PINs. That's only my opinion, so, I might be wrong.

Pick up your residence card in Room 25 and then march straight up to the 2nd floor to register for e-ID.  Or face having to make the trip again.

Just a quick update. Already received an email my pw and it seems that the e-ID number it's the same as your ID number. However, will have to wait for the Authentication PIN they will send me via post. Tried both of the PINs that I received with the ID card, but they did not work.

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I have received my Activation PIN for the mygov.mt website and I finally managed to login successfully. This is the list of services and options you will get when you login



So basically, you request your login details from 2nd floor at the ID office after getting your ID card, they confirm your details and send you an email with your password and after few days, you will also receive your Activation PIN by post so you can then login and change your password.

Did you use the ID number on the front of the card (MT) or the one on the back of the card (ending in A) to log in? 

I went there on Tuesday, but the email with the login info just says "e-ID Number: Same as your ID card no".

And I did ask at the e-ID office about Form ID 1A.  The guy shrugged and said they were trying to do it at the same time as the residency application but it didn't work out.

He did say the two PIN numbers had nothing to do with e-ID, so it is still a mystery what those are for.

I thought about stopping on the ground floor and asking, but when I peeped, the room was its usual crowded and chaotic self and I decided knowing was not worth the time or effort.  :-)

If any of you figure it out, do let us know.

Your ID number is the one showing on the back of your ID card. I reckon I have posted a photo with my ID card where it show's where's located. To be honest, I don't even know what's the number on the font for.

It's all very straight forward, as soon as you receive your activation pin by post, you will be able to login to all the other government sites with the same login details you'll use for mygov.mt website.

I am having the exact same problem as you. And I have no idea what the two PIN numbers are for

Small update: if you actually want an eID account, to use the services on you will need to activate the account. As far as I know, this does not happen automatically when you pick up the eID-card (after you got a letter with two PIN codes). I was waiting for an e-mail with the password to set up the account, but then I carefully reread the instructions on their page on how to get registered, and I realised I probably wasn't registered yet. So I went back to Evans building, 2nd floor, and they handled the registration there on the spot (should take 2-4 working days to complete).

So when you pick up your card, and are planning to use an eID account, my advice would be to get up to the second floor as soon as you have your card in your hands and register for an eID account. Make sure your hair looks good, they will take another picture of you

no its not necessary nor is it essential - its there as a service for those who wish to access government bodies mechanisms

The strange thing is that if you change the address on your eResidence card you are issued with new pins !
