Aussies wanting to live in Italy for 12 months

My husband and I are thinking of living in Italy for 12 months. We are thinking of a small village /town around Lake Como. We like the idea of being close to Milan. We would appreciate any advice /tips anyone has to share.....

I live in CREMA.. an hour away from Milan.
It's very peaceful and clean. You should check this place on google, see if you like it.眉

If you are looking for something charming but not too distant from Milan I suggest Civenna.
This is a little village on the lake Como, next to Bellagio ( and George Clooney).

I know that many people rent their house in Civenna.
You are on the lake, close to the mountains if you like skiing and 30/40 minutes far from Milan.
