quarantine is required, at one of two locations:
  (south Iceland)
  (north Iceland)

it's not simple to move here with a pet- lots of paperwork, checks, and quarantine. I don't personally know anyone who's done it.

anyone wanting to bring a livestock companion animal (horse, pig, goat) is probably out of luck. Iceland is very restrictive for such animals and even Icelandic horses who leave the country aren't allowed back in for fear of disease. Even riding and fishing equipment has to be dealt with specially when being brought in.

I am in the process of moving to Reykjavik by summer of 2013 and am going to bring my little dog . I have found that she will be quarantined for four weeks at Reyjanesbaer which is not to far from the capitol and the price is about 180 US dollars including pickup from Keflavik. There are other vet checks ,pet passport and a request to bring a dog into Icealnd has to be granted by the Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture.

Actually, the cost of quarantine in Reykjanesbaer for a small dog is about $1463.00 U.S. (180,000 Icelandic kronur at about the current exchange rate). That does not include the MAST fees. Please go to mast.is to get the details. We are trying to bring our cats over and it is proving to be a lengthy and expensive prospect.

Thanks for the info about the dog quarantine ,I quess i miss understood the cost , I think the best hope would be if Iceland joins the EU and most likely they would follow under the rules of Europe where the other countries only require vacinations and micro chipping .
