Retract retirement tax

lucasma

Dear all,

I am looking for a Tax expert to advise me with the following:

I have lived and worked in Hungary for almost 9 years, I am Brazilian citizen and I have been granted working visas throughout the entire duration of my stay - I am not a permanent resident and not an European citizen and therefore I have been told that I will not be able to retire in Hungary as long as I dont become Hungarian or European - is it correct? If yes, am I allowed to request a percentage of my tax contribution back as the state would never pay it back during my retirement?

Anybody heard of such and most importantly, can recommend me a knowledgeable person to assist me with the procedure?

Thank you

Best regards

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

What you've experienced is pretty common amongst expats.  You will not be permitted to withdraw any contributions you've made into any State pension scheme, but you will be entitled to claim a pension appropriate to your contributions, once you've reached the state pension age for that country.  Make sure you keep copies of any documentation related to this.

Hope this helps.
