Living in Hungary, just never got around to updating the profile.

lol sounds familar... start with an O and end in an A by any chance? If so I lasted 3 days also, had me finish cold calling for them and then let me go lol, can't be just a coincidence.

Good guess with the letters, no offense but I'm glad I'm not the only one lol nice to know it was nothing personal.

Report them to the Hungarian Labour Authorities.聽 You should have been paying tax in Hungary anyways (I think) but since you received no pay this does not apply!聽 What they are doing is illegal- they can be "controlled" which involves people from the Authority staying in the Company for weeks and going through everything.聽 Go on- they deserve it!

My daughter had a similar experience in the UK. It seems common practice to muck the staff around in call centres and end up not paying them. Nasty business altogether. I hope reporting them to the authorities inconveniences them considerably and encourages them to change their ways.

I didn't think I could actually report them as they never presented me with a contract but now I think about it the calls would've been recorded and have to legally be kept on record for 6 months if I remember correctly, that should be proof I was there I guess.

They are an English company so I don't think I could contact the Hungarian Labour Authorities.

If they are operating as a business within Hungary, they are bound by the laws of Hungary.聽 I think the only bad news is the employment contract. They could argue you were on trial/probation and it didn't work out. Hard to prove. You could always just report them anyway and see what happens. You might not get your money but you might at least feel some level of positiveness that others might not get treated as badly in the future.

Anecdotal stories I hear about working here in HU is that employers can be sharks and nice/fair employers are few and far between and employment protection is almost meaningless. This contrasts with labour laws in the UK and Germany and just about everywhere else.

If you go for a large international company, you'll probably get treated much more fairly than small companies.

If a company operates in Hungary then it should be bound by the Laws of Hungary.聽 They sound seriously dodgy.聽 If they want to be bound by English Law then they should operate in England.聽 My husband works for a Dutch company, with a UK contract but he is still bound by Hungarian Law and pays Hungarian taxes.聽 I think that the same would apply to you here too.聽 There are some limited get-outs but only for very short term projects and you would have to receive your pay in the UK too.聽
In other words I think that this Company is "at it".

It is illegal in Hungary to have anyone working for you without a contract. And work safety training. Not a day,not an hour. There's also a "duck law" for employment, so if your work arrangement resembles employment, the tax office can void any contract (consulting, subcontractor, etc), and retroactively establish employment (for collecting the taxes.)

Oxeva is the name from what we established above, I originally remember seeing a negative topic about them on xpatloop once myself, also remember the cold calling fun and lack of payment myself lol, left it a little long myself so hopefully works out for you scarecrow.

Managed to get in touch with their higher ups and I will be paid, finally, but I need to send them a personal invoice but I have no idea how to make one and google is only bringing up examples for businesses. I need a basic idea how to form one and any help or information would be appreciated.
